Even outlook is not true push.... or am I missing something?

I remember that with gMail if you read and deleted the email, the iOS app updated automatically... with outlook it will remove the badge but when you open the notification, emails are there and just "sync".

I think I am being OCD, but with gMail it was completely instant.

I switched to iCloud after finding out my new devices won't do gmail exchange. It's not as instant but it does happen (i'm not sure if it happens during a 15 minute check). The email does push and I get the notice on my Mac/iPad/iPhone when I receive an email. If I read/delete the counter doesn't update on the other devices for a few minutes. Opening the mail app and checking for mail will update it immediately.

Is that noticeably different than using the built in Gmail option with fetch set to every 15 minutes then?

You know.. it is....

Tried it and I didn't like it... one can be switching devices or one device can keep chiming for unread messages etc....

Outlook appears to be working now after some changes.

It works well, because the new messages are pushed (But I don't feel like the read flags are).

If you're bouncing device to device you'll just be like "oh I got a new email" then when you click mail you realize it's the message you already so on the other device.

I'm degoogling my life and i've been happy with iCloud email.

Yeah but that is something that google did PERFECTLY... problem is I got used to that... and now its annoying.. even with icloud that supposedly has exchange/Activesync, and they are the makers of it, it's not doing it correctly...

iCloud does not have Exchange/Activesync functionality .. not sure where you read that ...

iCloud Push is a closed source implementation by Apple and it "could be"

1. IMAP IDLE Command ... which in layman terms is to keep a single pipe of connection open to the IMAP Mail Server and each new message triggers a push of mail content - However, if this was the case then the read flags would be "pushed" to all devices running this iCloud Account since they would be on IDLE as well.

OR

2. Apple's native Push technology - So iCloud just pushes out the notification for the email to all devices and then they need to be managed seperately -Now with this implementation in iOS7 since they also were bragging about the Notification Sync across devices, so should the email ones as well but they don't

So I would think either they just missed this whole point or its by their own design ... I have never received a satisfactory response from them on this issue ... EVER!

Keyword is *did*. You could sign up for a paid for Exchange service and get that behavior. Google give, Google take.

why do people say some services push for email every 15 minutes? am I not understanding the tecnology? when I use outlook mail (default iOS app) and I get an email sent it instantly pushes it and receives it.. same with the gmail app its instant there is no lag or 15 minute fetch, either service just works... have you tried using both apps instead of talking about how they work or think they work?
