Tell me you have NO IDEA What you are doing without telling me you have no idea what you are doing. Meet the Orange make-up wearing old man who thinks he's the smartest guy in the room.
Too bad the $7000+ Mac Pro is still rocking an M2.They have a plant. In Austin. Mac Pros are made there.

It’s hilarious how butt hurt people get when he says something. Other leaders do that same stuff they just don’t say the quiet part out loud. Trump does. And it works because you and others are angry. What you see is what you get, like it or not. Some of the most “measured” politicians in the world are digesting human beings behind the scenes. This is remarkable. Just seen this reported:
It's such disgusting behaviour from the supposed leader of the free world.
HOGWASH. INDEFENSIBLE. You're an apologist for a lying moron with no moral code. It’s hilarious how butt hurt people get when he says something. And why on God's green earth would any company move production to the US when the nut job in the White House is highly likely to reverse his ad hoc policy the week after they spent billions on building the plant. Stupid. Just plain stupid.I'm no supply chain expert, but it seems to me that building and ramping up a factory to full production isn't an overnight thing. I'm not sure how companies are supposed to pivot so quickly from offshore manufacturing.
Yes, I do believe that making people (especially liberals) angry is a key motive. The odd thing is that motive is causing a very non capitalism situation here. We are literally trying to compel companies to intentionally make less profit and while we're at it make everything from essentials to non-essentials more expensive. If we want more production in the US, then why not make that happen USING capitalism? The US can create situation whereby companies will make more profit and consumes will see lower prices if they produce locally. That won't work for every business but it will for many and is way better than the more socialist approach being tried now with tariffs. It’s hilarious how butt hurt people get when he says something. Wow, name calling…. Typical when people have nothing logical or substantive to contribute to the discussion.HOGWASH. INDEFENSIBLE. You're an apologist for a lying moron with no moral code.
I think a lot of people who like Trump don’t actually like or understand his policies. They just know he makes liberal people mad, and that’s enough for them, even if what he does negatively impacts them too. It’s hilarious how butt hurt people get when he says something. all those points make sense.shuffling manufacturing around doesn't happen much but EXPANDING manufacturing to new places is common and makes good sense often. Sometimes it can get you closer to a new market. It can add redundancy in case of natural (or man made) disaster. You can maybe leverage cheaper natural resources in the new location. And you can leverage skilled workers in certain new locations.
like a bride's nighty as they sayThey're on they're off they're on they're off they're on they're off they're.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The key thing for the US to do if they want more domestic manufacturing is to take steps so that the list of reasons I gave apply very well to them. The key is for the US to take steps so that producing locally makes Apple even more profit than it has been making. THAT is capitalism leveraged. Apple would then be crazy to NOT want higher profits.all those points make sense.
but making stuff in the US does not.
there are pundits saying how much a US made phone would cost. more than any tariff add.
or they invest in robot assembly which doesnt help with jobs or skills.
i guess Apple could just grow their international business in countries that dont tariff US designed goods.
the losers will be US consumers.
while Apple is the big loser in this tariff war, there will be many many smaller companies who dont have huge international presence and brand awareness who will fold.
Companies are not gonna make less profit since most will pass that to the consumer. Maybe they would absorb a small percentage. Your approach sounds nice but that approach would take a long time with not much of a guarantee. Plus that’s asking a LOT of people from big businesses and other countries to play nice by asking pretty please with sugar on top. What Trump is doing is very risky but if it works it will pay off much quicker and be more efficient. If it doesn’t, we will know very quickly. It would be THE definition of “ripping off the bandage”.Yes, I do believe that making people (especially liberals) angry is a key motive. You need to think. Let's say that an iPhone (as just one example) costs $500 more (reality may be much higher). That means fewer people can afford them. That means fewer sales. Profits go down. There's a key/careful balance between price, supply and demand to maximize profit. Too low or too high a price and you lose money. There's a sweat spot for every product.Companies are not gonna make less profit since most will pass that to the consumer. Maybe they would absorb a small percentage. It could be argued the opposite as well. Many who hate Trump don’t understand his policies. Him making liberals mad is just a fun byproduct to sit back and watch the rage machine do its thing!I think a lot of people who like Trump don’t actually like or understand his policies. They just know he makes liberal people mad, and that’s enough for them, even if what he does negatively impacts them too.
5-year olds just say whatever they think. Mature adults consider the consequences of their words and choose them wisely.
It’s corruption.Exactly. If this was anything sensible it would be a case of giving something like 2yrs notice. You can either plan and relocate production within the US, else face taxes (as esentially that is what they are) on imports.
Right now we are either seeing corruption, or incompetance.
It’s insane, he has so much control over the stock market it’s crazy. How many people lost a ton of money selling as the market was falling, for the wealthy with cash on hand to scoop up those shares at a deep discount. I bet we are witnessing a huge redistribution of wealth right nowIt really is mad that this guy of all guys has managed to manoeuvre himself into a position whereby so many people around the world have no choice but to pay attention to absolutely everything he says lol
Yeah the most expensive computer by a wide margin is what is made there. I guess you’re all for $3000 iPhones then for what? To feed the maga addiction? They have a plant. In Austin. Mac Pros are made there. Trump knows this because he visited it during his first term. They even gave him one!
What cracks me up about this whole tariff trade war drama is that people (mainly republicans) have no idea what they are, how it works, how flawed it is and all they hear is china bad and they support it.
Unlike other leaders he can't even string a logically or grammatically correct sentence together. It’s hilarious how butt hurt people get when he says something. Yeah because the last guy was such a cunning linguist…. To quote him… “C’mon, man”!Unlike other leaders he can't even string a logically or grammatically correct sentence together.
I believe what makes people angry is the fact that media, politicians (for example his vice president), and many people including your good self, seemed to have completely switched off any logic and common sense and follow him like a cult. Some of them, like JD, seemed to have a very different opinion about Trump not too long ago...
I don't think one could have come up with a more toxic and damaging scenario for the US, its (former) allies and friends and at the same time strengthening "enemies" like Russia and China than the current incompetent muppets at the helm in the white house.
Or maybe they are not incompetent at all. Maybe to destroy the US from within is their exact goal. It certainly appears so to people from outside of the US..
How do you suppose that happen when other countries can always undercut the US with near slave-wage labor costs? You have to have a level of protectionism in place as unrestricted capitalism is only good for those who own the means of production.Yes, I do believe that making people (especially liberals) angry is a key motive.
