That's fair. There are some very serious problems going on in the US (and really, they date back to McCarthyism and probably even further than that). Trump is really only a symptom of bigger issues that will not go away when he does.
Yeah the media machine is really bad. I keep thinking about when the actual turning point was when the media could no longer be trusted. I don't trust them at all. Would love to hear who thinks the turning point was....

When I think the turning point was when 60 minutes was going to air the story about the tobacco industry and the parent company squashed the story. Great movie about it with Al Pacino as Lowell Bergman and Russel Crowe as Jeffrey Wigand. Man that was some ****ed up stuff. Eventually the segment aired, but Lowell Bergman told CBS to **** off and quit over it.

America has failed... a (small) majority voted this idiot into office and here we are. This stupid tariff war, rights being taken left and right and he's grifting on every front.. like his crypto dinner last night.

I'm done, made the decision to leave the US. Lots to unravel here, likely take 18 months. South of France looking really good at the moment. I initially thought I was "abandoning America" but America has abandoned me.../Out
Democrats brought this on themselves, Bernie Sanders even stated so. As a democrat, I voted for trump this round.

The 99% remark is a load of crap and it just shows bias and contempt. I know plenty of people who voted for trump who wanted to see if an outsider could actually change the course of 40 years of federal bureaucracy and theft from the american people. Plenty of trump voters are not happy with what's going on and how its happening. However, if you want to create meaningful change in a bloated gov't, with representatives ( from both parties ) who have dug this country an almost insurmountable hole to climb out of financially ( in order to serve their own self interests, personal financial gains and wealth preservation ), you have to break some eggs. He is directly hurting a small business I own ( i source some stuff from china ) and is hurting my stock portfolio too. I've never liked the man, but continuing down the fiscal path of the last 30 years, along with all the wacky crap that the democrats have been peddling in the last 5-7 years is just as nuts.

If people don't understand or can not see the financial train wreck that this country is headed for with the last 30+ years of washington ineptitude, i don't know how to wake people up any more.....
Trumps tax and spending bill that got voted through the House yesterday will add trillions to national debt whilst cutting taxes for billionaires 👍

Meanwhile there’s increasingly loud speculation that the reason he keeps making wild economic statements and imposing then removing tariffs is in order to manipulate the markets for personal gain.

He’s not shaking anything up, it’s the biggest shake down of all time. If you thought the country was in a hole before then whoa boy just you wait.

He’s not gonna go away quietly either, him and his acolytes are here to stay.

Nothing new with any of that. He's been that way since 2016.

I initially supported Trump’s tariff policies, hoping they would lead to positive economic changes. However, the results were disappointing. His approach often felt erratic—one day announcing steep tariffs of 125% on certain countries, and the next claiming those countries were pleading with him to reduce them, celebrating what he called a victory.

Then came his comments on the India-Pakistan conflict. He described it as a centuries-old dispute over Kashmir, seemingly unaware that the issue dates back to 1947, when both India gained independence and Pakistan was founded. It was disheartening to hear such inaccuracies, especially from a sitting president. I used to think Americans were simply misinformed when I saw videos suggesting a lack of global awareness, but when the president himself demonstrates such a lack of understanding, it’s hard to stay optimistic.

This will make Samsung phones more competitive - Apple will have to pay a 25% tariff, Samsung will not. It will become more expensive for an American company to do business in the United States than a South Korean company.

From my perspective both parties are bad for the country right now. The problem with the GOP is that they are massively sucking up to Trump when nearly all of them know damn well that what Trump is doing is harmful to the economy and country -- which you have to hand it to them, as bad as it is, they tow the party line no matter what.

The Dems are so dis-jointed and non organized that they look like morons, even if they are on the right side of whatever issue. Although the problem is that they are not on the right side of many issues IMO.

This adminstration may very well cause another civil war; that is how far divided I see both parties. My guess is the vast majority are probably moderate and we are basically ****ed no matter who we vote for. But I will admit that the current amount of ****ery going on is just insane.

At this point the rest of the world pretty much needs to tell the US to **** off -- and I know by saying that, that it will cause a massive amount of hurt to myself, but it seems it is going to be the only way Trump and the current administration will learn. I am actually surprised that Canada hasn't cut the power off already to those northern states, I mean Trump said we don't need them, so Canada, do it and do it yesterday.

Someone needs to force Trump to read both of these books...

"The World is Flat" Thomas Friedman

"That Used to be Us" Thomas Friedman and Michael Mandelbaum

Large scale highly technical manufacturing is not coming back to the United States anytime soon.
I am afraid the electoral system and current communications (social media) are not compatible.

There are only two presidential candidates and two parties. No one outside of these has any chance to be elected. Also, the way most states elect the electors makes the situation even more difficult. Many people find it difficult to associate with either party and need to select the lesser evil.

Most likely, a moderate ("left-wing") republican or a moderate ("right-wing") democrat would win the presidential election by being an easier choice for the undecided 20 %. Unfortunately, when parties elect their candidates, the voters in primaries are usually rather strong supporters of their party. This makes it difficult for moderate candidates to win the primaries, as strong supporters of a party like strong candidates.

It is easy to see why the system was a great one two centuries ago with poor communication over long distances. It is equally easy to see that it would need fixing but replacing it is close to impossible. (The European-style multi-party system is not perfect, either, but maybe less bad in the current world.)

You'd think that an American administration hell-bent on bringing manufacturers back to the US would make it easy to hire those die and toolmakers and bring them to America. It's not like boats and planes don't exist.

All that is based on education, you can’t just drag and drop a company. It’s the same reason why TSMC has so much trouble with building in the U.S. Literally half the workers at Arizona fab are Taiwanese on visas.

The Trump regime’s attack on American educational institutions certainly isn’t helping.

China graduates each year more STEM students than the rest of the world combined. Every four years, China produces enough graduates to exceed the number of working engineers in the US.
It's kind of a shame that the same people who supposedly want to bring manufacturing back to America are so blindly xenophobic that the idea of expediting the immigration process for Chinese engineers would be a laughable prospect at best.

It's almost like the real reason behind these tariff games is completely different than what Trump says.

Project 2025 was there for anyone to read, and Trump outlined all the illegal actions he was going to take, but you voted for him anyway?
Trump has been talking about tariffs since the 80s. How this is a sick to anyone is itself shocking.

That's where you and I differ. I support manufacturing and in turn job creation in my country.
Where exactly are you going to find the labor to do it? The TSMC plant being built in Arizona is way past when it was supposed to be done; quite simply because we don't have the necessary skilled labor to even build it, let alone operate it.

Also any new large scale manufacturing is going to be automated and robotic.

That is not up to me to figure out. But, I definitely understand the point you are making.

Lol...."It was disheartening to hear such inaccuracies," You are kidding right?? Inaccuracies...Trump....you don't say! But it seems more people are finally waking up and seeing the emperor has no clothes. I just hope it is not too late: from across the pond it seems you guys are sliding into authoritarianism pretty fast, also because big tech and the press are so easy to bend over. The only ones pushing back are Harvard and the judges it seems.
