At this moment many scientists are applying for “science asylum” in Europe (at the moment more than 100 from the USA). Former French president Hollande has called for France to welcome them. They are then welcomed to continue their high quality research in France.

I literally work in skilled manufacturing in the United States. I have done so for over 30 years. I find people, hire them, and train them. I know lots of people in my industry who do the same. I am on the ground actually making products. For this specific problem, I am willing to pit my expertise against the author of that article because I do it for a living.

That article is not what Tim Cook said. He said he couldn't find enough skilled labor. He said it wasn't because labor in China was cheap. He said there wasn't enough skilled labor in the US. That one specific statement is the one I am calling BS on. So everything else in that article is irrelevant to my one specific point.

Tim Cook said the problem was finding skilled labor, not cheap labor or cost. I am calling BS on that specific statement. I can find skilled labor. Samsung can. NXP can. The big hurdle TSMC had was getting Americans to move to Taiwan for a year amid heightened tensions with China to the point that they were moving warships around in a show of force.
