He’s apparently coming to the UK in September. You’re going to see some of the largest protests ever in our country. People who never take to the streets will be there. Young and old. There’s a huge rift between the politicians trying to soften the impact and the raw feelings of the average person with middle of the road views.

I can only hope you’re right.
Don’t know if he’ll come to The Hague in June for the NATO summit. After all, he doesn’t seem to care a lot about NATO anymore. He could also send his partner in crime Hegseth.
The Orange Oracle likes people who praise him as a new God, so he gets angry when someone criticizes him.

The latest Signal chat news just has to be the last straw, even for an idiot like Trump, if only to get rid of the distraction. Unfortunately I don't expect there will be an improvement with Hegseth's replacement because no competent candidate for SedDef would submit to having to be "loyal" to the dear leader. But even if the new person can just refrain from transmitting classified war plans via text messages... on private phones no less... that will be an improvement.

I can only hope so. Why do you think this?
If so, then he’ll probably be replaced by another heel licking clown who finished his learning after primary school.

So far he stands by his man Hegseth.

Sad that we probably have to be satisfied with such an improvement.

1. It was never intact. Joe Public had to do what he was told but those in power never have, never do and never will. Also the rule of law isn't always correct. The laws are written with loopholes to allow them to skirt the right way to do things.

2. Please tell us you're joking about the envy thing. I mean seriously. I'm being honest here, the world does love US
cinema and the general feeling of excess but not much else. Food, god no. Military, you're a leader here don't mind admitting that. Education and general happiness the US isn't near the top.

3. Depends what you mean by 'functioning'. If my TV is stuck on one channel with no volume, is it still functioning? In absolute terms yes but in real terms not really.

4. They are looking for rulings which give them an out due to Trump. The difference between effectuated and facilitated. They are deliberately abiding by the word and not the spirit of the law. They are NOT open and honest.

5. The economy is being trashed, you MUST be able to see that???? If the economy is trashed the social safety nets are in jeopardy.

6. Here you really have shown your bias. DEI is about MUCH more than race. DEI, (but not under that name), is what gave women the vote.
1. The statement I replied to was "Oh, you mean 2021 to 2024, when the country still had rule of law intact?" So which was it, was the rule of law never intact or did Donald Trump break it?

2. If we are not the envy of the world - why were tens of millions of people putting their lives at risk to rush across our boarder? I don't see poor families giving away their life savings to criminals to sneak them into Poland.

3. Okay, so you don't actually have an example - I guess we can just say I am right and move on, here.

4. This is also a non-answer, so I'll take thus point and move onto #5.

5. Economy ≠ Social Safety Net. I can admit that the stock market has taken a hit due to Trump's incompetent handling of the tariff discussion. So please, again, give me one example of a social safety net being in 'jeopardy.'

6. DEI is about elevating some 'oppressed' class and giving them special treatment. Don't you dare lump in women's right to vote with that garbage. If women's right to vote was a DEI initiative, their vote would count more due to their historic oppression. DEI is a cancer. It's not about equality, it's about equity (it's literally right there in the name) and equity is patently evil.

It's none of the government's business as to what the students' political leanings are. Even if they are misguided. If students were being radicalised to take part in some kind of terror campaign, that would be different.

The irony is that this has been the right-wing argument all along. They want freedom of speech, but only it seems if it completely matches their own beliefs.

In a free country people have a right to think and say more or less what they like. We don't have to agree with them but your constitution says they should have the right to say it!

What your government is doing now is refusing to fund universities and much else besides if they don't like what they see. A communist state could hardly do better than your Mr. Trump. For Christ's sake read again what you've written and see how it would sound if the situation was reversed.
How about we just don't have the government fund any universities? Problem solved ... let the free market decide what values to uphold, and what values to toss away?

Previously I pointed out that the President is targeting CBS News, contrary to the first amendment. He’s now also targeting Comcast. These are the actions of an autocratic regime, not an administration that respects its putative oaths to protect and defend the Constitution.
The President is allegedly "targeting" two news outlets. There are thousands of impartial, 3rd party, news outlets that report on him every single day.Until he starts banning all news except for the ones he hand picks, I do not give a single effort about CBS no longer having access to the press room.

Also, it would behoove you to remember that just a few short years ago we had a President that would only take pre-approved questions from targeted press members. Just because FOX News was in the room doesn't mean they were getting a fair shot. That was miles more autocratic than simply banning one outlet (who, mind you, participated in the charade I just mentioned)

Perhaps you'd like to outline what is so bad about universities and why they have existed in other countries for centuries. The American idea of market forces in areas such as health and education is one of your worst exports. With you lot everything comes down to money. Frankly that's an indication of a very immature society.

Except, this hasn't generally been the American view until now or rather it's your own, blinkered view.

The fact that you think universities should be left to market forces says more about you than than the position of universities.

1. If I have a clock where the hour minute doesn't work, you might agree that it is broken. If I take that same clock and throw it on the floor and it smashes into 500 pieces. It's even more broken that before. Do I need to explain further?

2. You think you're the only person that has people trying other get in? Part of the reason is size. You tell me what is really envious about the US. Health? Food? Life expectancy? Na, none of those. The happiest people do NOT reside out there.

3. Again, what do you mean by functioning? See my example number one above.

4. It has people that have no teeth or self respect. They all capitulate to Trump instead of the law/constitution. I remember when Barr was being questioned. What he did is not an example of a DOJ with a respectable structure and accountability;

5. Done. My statement stands. In fact I think we're going to see even more cuts to social security too, which jeopardises it.

6. FACT. Women are the single largest group that benefitted from the right to vote and they deserved that right. As mostly bigoted and narcissistic men were concerned, (LOTS of them still about), women didn't have with it takes. In fact the law meant that you could no longer discriminate against them.
Women WERE an oppressed class.
That is to say you had to be more diverse and include them to ensure equity. Listen to that for a second, the LAW said you had to do it, it should have been a natural inclination.

Let’s be real: Tangerine Palpatine isn’t “planning” anything. That guy’s skull is the equivalent of a glass jar full of dying fireflies.

On Thursday, he’ll wake up and see that tech stocks have tanked even further, and more “exemptions” will come in. Four days later, after Chinese state media calls him a dirty name, he’ll institute an eleventy billion percent tariff instead.

There is no plan. There is no rationale. There is only the ravings of a lunatic moron, who 70+ million of his fellow idiots trusted with far more power than he deserved or was ever capable of exercising with even a modicum of wisdom or restraint.

The Trump insiders are making MILLIONS, some are making hundreds of million, or even billions of dollars with insider knowledge of Trump’s tariff shenanigans. And yet….as we can see, there are still many, even here in the comments thread, who are fully supportive of Trump.

I'm not a supporter of that clown by any means but one thing he was right in saying, (but neglected to do), was drain the swamp.
There are significant numbers of dishonest democrats that also acted on insider information.
Bi-partisan action is needed to clean this sort of thing up.

I agree, a thorough investigation is needed, but on all sides. There are compelling reasons for investigating the other side too after the tariff back and forth.
