That's partially my point. Apple didn't say February. They've only said "early 2022" on the website. It was the TSA that came out and said February. If they're not going to meet that date, they should have updated the timeline.
You sound surprised that the TSA is lazy and incompetent ;)

I’m not. I’m also not surprised by Apple’s vague timeline and lack of updates. I’m just impatient. I am anxious to try this out. Plus, the sooner it starts, maybe we won’t have to wait forever to spread to more places.

I’m with you, although I’ve also accepted this unfortunate truth:

Given how unreliable, disorganized, and unprofessional the TSA is, I would never trust them to have this system working flawlessly. As a result, I’ll be traveling with my physical ID as a backup for likely years to come, regardless of how quickly this system is rolled out. And, if I’m traveling with my ID anyway, there’s actually very little benefit to this system.

I fly a lot, I was hoping it was enabled by February myself. I am flying out again in March, and again in April, so hopefully by then we will get the thing up and running. Since I am in Arizona, and we already have a mobile ID app, I was hoping at the very least they would accept the mobile ID app, but I guess not.

Since Arizona already had a mobile ID app and its working at the moment, I figured now this whole thing rests on Apple. Given Apple's reputation of feature delays lately, I am not surprised, but I am anxious myself!
