Hey MR, let's drop the douchiness about the iPad Plus (or Math as you like to call it) being released in early 2015. Apple isn't going to roll something like that out unannounced, and they aren't having two iPad events a couple months apart. Either it makes an appearance tomorrow or we don't see it for another year. It's that simple, and as seasoned Apple watchers you ought to know this.

While I understand people may be concerned about losing pixels going from 4:3 to 16:10/16:9 the latter res is just a more standard format for media consumption. I do agree it'll be kind of tall if you hold it in portrait, but would a giant square be any better? Anyways I don't think they'd suddenly bust out 16:9 ratios on an ipad, but sure would love to have no black bars when watching modern videos.

I totally agree. I also wish I could use my iPad to download and store whatever files I want, or even be able to FTP any kind of files to my website directly from iOS.

Those are mainly the things I see that my friend's Samsung tablet does very conveniently. He downloads torrents and all.

Isn't torrent stealing? It would be fitting that samesuck allows that.

i really hope they are planning some big changes to iOS to make better use of the big screen...

Or even some pro apps like FCP X and, if devs get on board, full photoshop, maya, toon boom, after effects etc etc

Actually it is just a file distribution system, you can share anything (legal or not), unfortunately as you mention it is widely used to download copyrighted material such as movies, TV series and software.

are u so ignorant? torrent is technology, there may be content covered by copyright but there may be not protected content as well that u can dl using torrents...

iOS is laughably limited for a pro user to spend big bucks on an iPad Pro

They would have to introduce major changes, maybe even have OS X on it

in my country, it is too often used for downloading series that will be legally available many months/even years after release in us/uk.. and no, no netflix here as well;(

Tell your friends to be careful. Much more pirated movies/games. If you think its FREE. It's not.

You've been able to do this since iPad 1 with apps like GoodReader. It amazes me that people want to do things on their iPad and just assume it is impossible. It takes more effort to complain about it then it does to do the tiny bit of research to realize you could do the thing you've been complaining about all along.

You've obviously forgotten about the iPad 4. Even worse, the white iPhone 4 (but that is the reverse situation).

I prefer 21:9 film format, currently available to me by purchasing a ticket to the theater, or provided on some BluRay discs. Of note, while there are a few 21:9 televisions out, maybe just a bigger 16:9 television with black bars is an acceptable compromise. I'm okay with that.

Always the black bars.

The point being that 16:9 is certainly appropriate for video, less so for images, may be not so much for anything else that productive people do, i.e. formats are compromises. News at 11:00.

You only have no black bars for 16:9 movies. 21:9 is quite common and gives you black bars.

And if you use the iPad in portrait mode, 9:16 is just ridiculous.

This rumor makes me feel that A8X and 2GB of memory is actually for 13 inch iPad, not iPad Air 2, which will make me sad.

A seasoned Apple watcher should know that it is completely possible that it will be released in early 2015 even without a second iPad event. The Apple Watch was announced last month and will be released in early 2015. So it can very well happen that it makes an appearance tomorrow but will not be released for another few months.

I can assure you that the iPad Pro will not be marketed towards "pro users" such as professional photographers or video editors to replace their Mac Pro. So the use case you consider to be laughable is not even being considered by Apple.
