This is why I don't buy Samsung phones.....oh wait...

TSMC - Better battery, 16 nm process (worse performance?)
Samsung - Worse battery, 14 nm process (better performance?)

...what to choose...

*Edit: Clarified the perception from article below that the 14 nm process is perceived to equate to better performance...incidentally, this was meant as sarcasm since we clearly can't choose which one we get...

every time apple does a multi supplier run for a part every one finds a way to identify that part and groups form around them. So next time apple are you reading this make it impossible for macrumors users to find out what part is what and there will be none of these threads.

As long as either processor meets the battery life specs that Apple claims, why does it matter? You can't return it to get the other one even if one gets better life than the other.

These aren't real-world tests either.

iPhone 6S
Talk time: Up to 14 hours on 3G
Internet use: Up to 10 hours on 3G, up to 10 hours on LTE, up to 11 hours on Wi‑Fi
HD video playback: Up to 11 hours
Audio playback: Up to 50 hours

iPhone 6S Plus
Talk time: Up to 24 hours on 3G
Internet use: Up to 12 hours on 3G, up to 12 hours on LTE, up to 12 hours on Wi‑Fi
HD video playback: Up to 14 hours
Audio playback: Up to 80 hours
Standby time: Up to 16 days

I think we no more need the Moore's law.
Samsung affirmed that 16 nm is better than 14 nm. So there is no reason to make transistors smaller!

Oh this is too funny. Seemed like a lot of comments when this all came out were people hoping they had the samsung one. Haha. Well whatever. Seriously doubt it at all matters which one you have at end of day. 6s is a great phone. Period.

I bet the Samsung outperforms in standby. I'd be more interested in those results.

Leave the two in AirPlay mode in a clean install and see which dies first.

I've got the Samsung, but I'm happy with my battery life thus far. I'll wait to see how it plays out, and eventually Apple will need to make a statement on it if there is a determined difference. If there is a significant difference though, I will expect a replacement.

I don't know which chip I have and am not about to put software outside of the App Store to find out, but my battery life seems quite satisfactory on my 6s+.

I remember back when there were issues with yellow screens on iMacs. People who were previously quite happy with their machines were trying to figure out if they had one of the yellow ones. IF there is an actual difference, I'm not going to expend energy trying to find it. If there is an actual problem that affects my use then I would take action.

So, my advice, if you're not experiencing a problem, don't look for one, because if you look hard enough, you'll always find something.

I got a Samsung chip in mine, and battery life in my 6s has been pretty much identical to what I got out of my 6.

Why will you expect a replacement? It would have to be noticeably worse than their published specs for the 6s.

You can call one chip better than another when you compare the two in day-to-day use cases, not just one benchmark. Maybe the TSMC chip is slightly more efficient under full load but that's almost never going to happen with normal use.

It's quite funny, a week ago people wanted Samsung chip and this week TSMC :p

I honestly doubt it differs too much compared to each other. People just like to make fuss about every little thing.
