At least the AVP got an update last year, and AVP was shown a number of times in the keynote. It's almost like they take pleasure in leaving hardware neglected. ATV, APM, AVP, etc.
Only the minis and 2nd gen are being updated and they aren't getting new Siri. They didn’t mention anything about the HomePods. Is Siri on HomePods still going to remain as useful as 2016 Siri?
And this is why I will not buy a speaker setup like that without it having bluetooth and AUX in capability. I don't want to throw away a perfectly good speaker just because Apple decided not to support it anymore. My guess is that it will still work for a while yet, just no new features. But still.Look like OG HomePods are indeed done with updates... The feedback assistant site no longer mentions them under the HomePod Software tab...
And as I said before no beta profile to be found anywhere... Not surprising since they went vintage and run the same A8 as the now no update Apple TV HD.

They came out in February 2018, that's 8 years of updates... And they were discontinued in 2021. And they'll still work for a few more years I'm sure...And this is why I will not buy a speaker setup like that without it having bluetooth and AUX in capability. Yes, and my pair of Yamaha HS50M powered speakers I bought in 2005 still work and sound great today 21 years later. A speaker should last longer...They came out in February 2018, that's 8 years of updates... And they were discontinued in 2021. And they'll still work for a few more years I'm sure...
Nothing’s changed on them since day one. how hard is it for them to let HomePods properly respond to queries? What am I missing? Can they not run the command on their servers and respond with decent answers instead of just saying ask again on your iPhone?Only the minis and 2nd gen are being updated and they aren't getting new Siri.
They've had this problem for a long time now, they get stumped on how to update a product and make it saleable and then just leave outdated hardware available at a poor price-performance ratio. See the 2014 Mac mini which was already a huge downgrade from the 2012 model, that thing lasted till 2018 with 0 changes despite not even getting a true redesign. Mac Pro of course languished from 2013-2019. iPad mini used to be in the same boat, they still take a bit to update that one. It's almost like they take pleasure in leaving hardware neglected. I bought my Apple TV HD in 2015. Can’t believe it made it 10 years with full software support.
Could you share where Apple confirmed?
Yeah, I’m
Proof? The website hasn’t changed.
It is on a 9to5mac article. The newsroom says it is supported and many people were able to update on a series 9 (as per Reddit posts) 😉
There is a software build for Watch Series 9 - it's confirmed:
Exactly. Odd to drop models when no new models have been added in nearly 4 years.A lot of people would upgrade their Apple TV 4K (1st generation, 2017) or older, if Apple actually released new hardware. No one is going to buy the 2022 model in 2026.
Because it’s time for a successor with an A19 or A20 processor, more RAM, AI support, etc. My Apple TV 4K 3rd Gen has served me well for almost four years, but even I’m ready to upgrade. Why not?
That’s part of the strategy to get people to upgrade in a few months when the 4th generation Apple TV 4K is released in September.Exactly. Odd to drop models when no new models have been added in nearly 4 years.
