tvOS 27 Drops Support for Two Apple TV Models

Given how super conservative the 26 → 27 update is, I find it really frustrating they are dropping the 4k 1st gen.

It's nonsensical. Anything running 26 fine should be supported for 27 as well.

The Apple TV 4K 1st gen is the weird one.... The Apple TV HD is on the obsolete list while the HomePod 1st gen is on the vintage list. So those 2 are understandable. But the Apple TV 4K 1st gen is not on either list, but was discontinued officially at the same time as the 1st gen hoempod in 2021, and runs the A10X chip which it could be a chip thing. While the HomePod and ATV HD run the A8 chip.
So there is no saying why the 4K 1st gen is done but odds are it's a chip thing of wanting to get rid of the older chips.

Still rocking the HD model with a HD TV and don’t intend to upgrade as long as basic apps work. I really don’t need fancy glass animations that kill older hardware just like macOS 26 essentially killed MBP 2019 (which was absolutely flawless before) 🙄

No one is going to buy the 2022 model in 2026.

I might, actually! If Apple releases a 2026 model that no longer offers Ethernet, then I'd definitely prefer the older model (the 4k one that has WiFi+Ethernet + Thread)
