Not sure. But we're discussing Twitter here, so it doesn't matter what Facebook does.Does Facebook allow third-party apps?

Slow clapNo, but that's unrelated and irrelevent to this discussion?
You can't use an API that you're paying for in an "unauthorised" way. You call the API with a request, and you get a response back. How, for example, did Tweetbot use the API in an unauthorised way?I'm guessing that this is more about some unauthorized use of the APIs than it is about the CEO. Shut them all off, get it sorted out, and only then turn them back on. I can't see this lasting for very long. Oh and I hope everyone realizes that API usage bypasses ad revenue. So when the APIs come back on be prepared.
I think it's about $$$ as there are no ads or promoted tweets shown on Tweetbot.
There is always a replacement drug.Thank you Twitter for helping me end the addiction!
But in order to access the Twitter API you have to have a key, and you only get a key when you agree to their terms & conditions, so actually these third-party devs do have contracts with Twitter.Twitter is ... Twitter. I don't like it and I don't like the way it is managed today.
But...
But any third party app that lives 100% from Twitter system and data (or from anybody else's) and has no contrat with it is to expect such an end.
Im giving Mastodon a try now. So far so good.
Crazy how one person can turn a entire site so negative so fast.
So much for the business wunderkind - Never needed so much popcorn - Makes Ratner look like a total amateur !Musk is doing what he can to kill Twitter completely. Just amazing watching him throw away tens of billions of dollars and hurt his Tesla brand in the process. Just amazing.
So what is in the contract? Does it give Twitter the right to cancel at anytime? But in order to access the Twitter API you have to have a key, and you only get a key when you agree to their terms & conditions, so actually these third-party devs do have contracts with Twitter.
This is borderline lawsuit territory right?
You're comparing old Twitter to new Twitter. New Twitter is desperate for revenue since so many advertisers have abandoned them.twitter could have allowed Ad's on its third party API for years, and they CHOSE not to enable that

Which reminds me that now twitter has conveniently hidden lists behind the "more" buttonDear Twitter users: Create a list of people you follow. Swipe to that list to read their tweets in proper linear order with no ads and no inserted tweets from people you don't follow. You're welcome.
I use Twitter mainly for sports news and highlights, and unfortunately there's very little sports content on Mastodon at this point.Im giving Mastodon a try now. So far so good.

Okay, so for y'all who are using Mastodon, which server(?) can I join which will most closely emulate an RSS feed from MR, 9to5, AppInsider, etc.?
For breaking what law(s)?
