I'd be curious what percentage of users were using a third party app vs official Twitter app or website? Because I'm officially done with Twitter now. The website is ****, the app is ****, and I would have paid for Twitter Blue to keep access to Tweetbot. Shame. Time to delete my account.

It's been a hell of a ride with Tweetbot. That app was what made Twitter tolerable, fun to interact with even. Funny that it wouldn't be politics or hate speech, but the UI which drives me off a platform.

Well, I guess that's why I am an Apple product user. We appreciate nice things, are willing to pay for them, and won't make do with anything lesser.

"Twitterrific subscriptions through iOS have been cancelled, and Twitterrific is asking subscribers not to request a refund from Apple as the loss of the Twitterrific revenue will have a notable impact on the business, and thousands of refunds could be devastating."

But... the users no longer have a viable product, which they paid for. Tough situation for everybody here.

Twitter is not “ dead”… Twitter is experiencing an all time user high. I do think they are in a financial hard spot so we’ll see if they survive.
People in here think twitter is dead or dying because they decided to leave, thinking their 100 some followers and retweets about new Mac products would affect twitter as a whole....when I reality they are number 1 right now in free apps.

Will that translate to profitability? Heck if I know, but its clear twitter was already in a really bad spot pre buy out.

I think Twitterrific might have already spent the money possibly?

Longtime Tweetbot user here. Good god the twitter app is horrific. I don't see myself using it much at all going forward.
So ... a couple of suggestions:

1) Create a list of all the people you follow and make it a pinned/favourite list. In the Twitter app, you can swipe to that list and it will show your followers in proper chronological order without ads. Of course, it won't save your spot in the timeline, but that's a general problem with the Twitter app.

2) Using mobile Safari, load Twitter or TweetDeck in the browser. Save it by "Add to Home Screen" in the share sheet. That creates a nice little applet that's missing most of the Twitter app bloat (and lets you use scheduled tweets, which isn't available in the iOS app!). Again, use your pinned list as your home feed.

I understand the bad sentiment here because we're actually losing something we had since, well, quite a long time.
But honestly, I'd do the same thing, because...
1. I'd need an entire team to maintain all these APIs and permissions
2. These 3rd-party apps can hit on my servers in a bad way if not well programmed
3. 3rd-party apps don't show ads
4. No other social network does this (except maybe Reddit?)

Basically it was just a money pit for Twitter and they're trying to be leaner.

Now, will it really diminish user trafic in a remarkable way, this remains to be seen.

I agree.

Elon has his first interest payment due here soon on the money he used to buy Twitter so he might have to sell more Tesla stocks or something to pay it.

I personally enjoy Twitter and hope it makes it.

That’s why the way Twitter handled this is so deplorable. These are people’s businesses and livelihoods that they pulled the plug on with absolutely no notice. That’s a horrible, childish way to conduct business.

Elon: Don’t like how it’s being ran, maybe you should buy it.

Also Elon: It’s my company, I’ll block who I want to.

How many times Elon has read your MR posts and how much he cares = 0/nope
