Man, they'll try to monetize anything with subscriptions these days.
How dare a business charge money for a service!

Never use the native app. Always use a third party. The best thing Twitter could do is Close Down, that app is a cesspool. I can't believe that something like 70% of the population actually get their news from it.
A cutesy name and the fact they were there pretty early in the game. Other than that, nothing really. What value does Twitter provide over say traditional news aggregators and other social media platforms, anyway? I've been unable to see the allure.
And so is life. We each create our own bubble with the friends we surround ourselves with, and Twitter is kinda like that but for news.Which is a key cause of the cesspool... the filter bubble. You think it's great, but outside observers who see the totality of arguments see something quite different.
This should make them 10's of dollars.
Why on earth is that surprising? Follow the right accounts and you get accurate/truthful information.
Clearly there should be a select group of better educated and discerning people who should decide what they can see for them. In the words of The Operative, it would be “a better world, a world without sin”.And therein lies the challenge: the wrong people following the wrong accounts to get their "accurate/truthful information".
I don’t believe that statistic at all. I might believe it if you said Facebook but not Twitter. Not enough people use it.The best thing Twitter could do is Close Down, that app is a cesspool. I can't believe that something like 70% of the population actually get their news from it.
Yes, obviously when bad actors are loud, you're more likely to notice them than the quiet good onesYou know its a cesspool even if you don't have an account, because you constantly see evidence of this moron or that moron tweeted a moronic thing.
It's in print media, tv media, online media, etc... Twitter has become a de-facto venue for fake news, or unverified news, and just people's stupid opinions.
A subscription model would have to offer something. Nobody is going to pay for a subscription if the app behaves exactly the same as the free with promoted tweets version. At first I was thinking, oh they'll be offering a ad-free option - which I'd consider good, but then was looking at this quote:
" We want to make sure any new line of revenue is complementary to our advertising business "
Which sounds to me like, we keep advertising and then you pay us on top of that. Good luck.

Seems to me Parker is just Twitter but for people who like Donald Trump.
I would not pay to use Twitter much less any other “social media.”
