anyone got a guess on how much a monthly bill for verizon will be?
for unlimited texting, mandatory Data, and the lowest minutes are over 90 dollars a month

No, this will not be a cheap affair - it never is with anything Apple related. However, it should have many features, including an actual unlimited "unlimited data plan".

I'm hating all of these Verizon rumors.

I have Verizon right now, but I was just going to cancel my plan over the summer when the new iPhone came out and go with AT&T. But now I'm afraid that I'm going to switch to at&t and then Verizon will come out with an iPhone and, of course, it will come with their awesome coverage at Phoenix, AZ, whereas AT&T sucks.

What to do!? :confused::confused:

Competition is good for everybody. Apple and Verizon = world domination.

Woah can't wait to see it, well actually I can but whatever. . . New iPhone leak please

AGREED. When did these shots leak last year? Anyone remember?

Verizon currently has the better with 4G. This could also be Jobs' way of telling AT&T to get their 4G rolled out ASAP.

I guess all this just could be posturing to get a better exclusive deal with AT&T. Apple has used Verizon as a pawn before, when Apple was courting both Verizon and AT&T at the same time a while back.

The only thing AT&T cares about with its iPhone customers is the check we send them every month. As for the phone, we enjoy less features then most other smartphones (I speak of tethering and video streaming).

And we enjoy even fewer... (I speak of access to our internal GPS chip w/o paying for AT&T navigator, paying monthly for Apps you all get for free, etc.)

I absolutely agree though that they only like our checks...

Yeah - Another $40/month in addition to the iPhone data plan.

Also - if the Media Pad (Come up with a better name ... please?) works on WiFi, why is Verizon selling it? Wifi + optional 3g/4g data? Or are we going to be forced into it? I just want a wifi tablet that is cheap. Not a $2000 tablet over the course of 2 years...

Yup, and I'm praying the tablet does a lot more than serve as a media device. I want my pro apps, battery life and heavy duty processors. (I know it can be done.) :D

I figure this is the case too. Maybe Apple wants their revenue sharing agreement back?

Also, AT&T and Verizon (among others) will be rolling out the same type of 4G network - LTE. So who knows if Verizon's 4G network will be "better" at that time.

Dittos on that! Trying to suck people into service contracts seems to be a disturbing trend! Unless of course one loves paying out thousands of dollars over a multiple year contract!

I would love to know more on the capabilities of this, but with sys on a chip I have a cynical view that this device may be crippled. Kinda was hoping for a full OS iPad. Just gonna have to wait and see.

So when will the big revelation happen? Probably around WWDC.

Except Verizon doesn't exist anywhere else.

Or are you talking "World" as in "world series"?

So this could just be a 4G enabled tablet, nothing to do with a specific carrier? Sounds bloody awesome to me.

Sounds like we are getting a Mac Tablet. The question now remains, will it run the iPhone OS X and be compatible with all the applications? Or will it be a full on OS X with an atom processor? Possibly a 7" device? Possibly it's own App store?

I wonder what all those 10 inch screens will be for then, that Apple ordered a ton of, awhile back that was posted here????Hmmmmmm??????

Really no one is seeing this?

iPhone Lite- A thinner ( maybe iPod Touch Thin ), lighter version of the iPhone 3G. Same specs, same capacities, maybe an updated processor.

iPhone 3rd gen - Thinner also with an aluminum back ( matching painted plastic for wifi ) with the specs we have seen that hey ordered for already.

Media Pad - I'm stumped on this one, is it a netbook? Just a screen device? A Kindle like device ? a Hub device? You got me there.

Wow, these rumors are really gaining steam. AT&T is going to have to do some serious ass-kissing to stay exclusive.

I'm in the same situation and am cynical enough to wonder if Verizon is seeding these rumors specifically to hang on to poor saps like us. Not that there is no hint of truth in them, but it's certainly in their interest to get the word out to slow the bleeding of their customer base to AT&T. My contract is up in June...

alright, i feel i have to jump in here, i work in the wireless industry, yes for at&t, and i'll agree with anyone it always a lesser of two evils, at&t works for me so no complaints.

Anyways, does everyone remember the apple earnings call where they clearly said there will not be a cdma iPhone, now 4G is a possibility, which vzw has commited to LTE which AT&T and pretty much the rest of the world has, now for AT&T this is basically software upgrades to the existing network and compatible hardware. For vzw on the other hand it's a complete conversion from cdma to gsm technology which LTE is, if anyone here remembers when AT&T/Cingular made to conversion to GSM from tdma, it was a mess. And realistically vzw will not be able to completely quickly and smoothly, to convert their coverage they have will take atleast a year for the build out, and that is extremely optimistic. I wouldn't doubt vxw will launch big markets first and over a year or two complete the rest of their coverage. so 2011 to 2012 before verizon is completely 4G, would apple even launch a phone that only certain vzw customers could use?

Just my two cents, but apple seemed to quash these rumors pretty well a couple weeks ago.

Meanwhile, the iPhone Lite is said to be thinner, smaller, and cheaper than the current iPhone. Most of the cost savings are said to come from a new system-on-chip that has reduced costs.

This makes sense. The clue is the os 3.0 backward compatibility. So there'll be a thinner/lighter phone that's basically all the same features as the current iPhone 3g for $99 or $149 for 2 year AT&T, and then a beefer, faster, video-camera bearing iPhone HD starting at $299 w/ 2 year AT&T.

Wow, familiar? They do the exact same thing with iPods.

I don't think this is happening anytime soon. And i certainly don't see Apple doing any "lite" version. That' just not there business model at all.

I could see maybe a tablet type Kindle thing that works on other cellular networks to grab data over the air. But it would probably piss off current iPhone users to get a data plan from VZ and also have a AT&T plan, so that seems like it's not going to happen either.

So Verizon's getting something from Apple. The question, of course, is "what?"

more like a friend of a friend who dated my sister's roommate's cousin a few years ago says that Verizon might maybe get something at some point.

in other words, it couldn't be more unconfirmed.

frankly I don't see it. I can't believe that the contract with ATT would allow another network to get anything that was iphone like. i also don't see Apple going back to basics to create a phone for CDMA. it would be a nightmare in so many departments to make it and then deal with the warehouse etc.

I will believe that something new is coming when I hear it from Apple. as for carriers, I suspect that whatever happens will be ATT only until the end of the contract and then, if Apple is smart, it will be open bar to all carriers that support the hardware (ie GSM for now, whatever the new great successor is later)

I'd love to see some sort of eBook reader from Apple. But knowing them, it'll be a whole lot more, and that's a very good thing.

I really do believe digital distribution of all media is the future and eBooks are a huge part of that. I've never been overly impressed by Sony or Amazon's current technology and I'd like to see it done properly.

A sleek 7" multi-touch Apple tablet that's 5mm thin and all very shiny would be awesome.

:apple:

Ah, my weekly dose of Nano/tablet lore, presently 'Lite & Pad'

Yes there's a niche for these.

Right here :)
