It's sort of like those huge gas station soda cups. The small one is only ten cents less than the 40 ounce one, which is only 10 cents less than the half gallon one. A 20 ounce bottle is the same price as the 40 ounce fountain drink, but it doesn't matter if you don't WANT the 40 ounce one because you can't ever hope to finish it and end up not consuming 60% of what's in it. Bigger is not always better, but most Americans don't accept this as valid.
I don't know...I agree that bigger is not always better, but I just don't see mp3 player capacity in the same light as soda cups...
If Apple's competitors are selling 20 GB models for approximately the same price as Apple is selling a 40 GB, I just don't see people choosing the competitor becasue 'that's all I need'...
