Just because it is not good for you doesn't mean it isn't for somebody else.SiliconAddict said:I'm happy with my 60GB and 15GB of free space left. No innovation here...move along everyone. Move along.

Some may want an iPod with 80GB because 60GB is well...too small!
Also, if their guess is correct, the new 80GB version will be smaller than your 60GB version. Which for some folks, will be a wonderfull improvement. A higher capacity iPod that is smaller. Why not?!

I'm curious why traders sold off 24hrs before an earnings announcement that that almost every media story is anticipating as great?
Plus Apple is going into the Christmas quarter which may be the most profitable of all time.
Why sell now? Why not wait 24hrs and catch some upside?
Are there that many cynics betting against the success of the company?
Curious in Canada.
Do you think Apple is likely to release an entirely new product before the introduction of x86?excalibur313 said:Sorry to sound repetitive but what about a tablet mac? They filed for a patent on the design of one about 6 months ago.

Wouldn't that be a big waste of both money and time considering that they would have to redesign the contraption at the time of PPC -> x86 transition?
Just a thought... My guess is just as good as yours

Assuming that Apple, just as the case with the Nano, put down considerable time minimizing the volume, it would be rather expensive to redesign a tablet from PPC -> x86.pags said:A good point, but I'd guess that it's been in the works for some time and they wouldn't want to waste all the pre-Intel work that had been done. Besides--an entirely new ppc product might not get switched until 2007.
How much redesign work would really have to be done on the hardware to make the switch? I'm not being a smart-aleck. I simply don't know.
Again, just as usual I am just guessing here.excalibur313 said:It is perfectly reasonable to assume that they wouldn't even bother doing it until the intel macs but I think most of the problems associated with the transition (new motherboard, processor, etc) would probably be independent of problems associated with a tablet (stylus doesn't work, screen not sensitive enough, screen latch breaks too easily). Transition problems for a tablet would almost be the same as with a powerbook because most of the parts are the same. You could definitely be right though.
Basically what I'm saying is that debuting the tablet now could be a way of reducing the amount of things that go wrong since they ppc platform has all it's kinks worked out.
