Where did they find room for such big battery size increases? Why weren’t these batteries included last year?

It can't charge through the display on the front, only on the back. So in order to charge an Apple Watch or air pods, the phone would have to be placed face down on a table and plugged into power via a lightning cable- then the accessory could be charged while resting on top

Better yet.... What I have been itching for is an iPad with bilateral Qi charging.... place my iPhone *and* my AirPods *and* my Apple Watch on top of my iPad / iPad Pro and have the iPad charge the other 3 devices wirelessly while the iPad is plugged in to Lightning / USB-C. That would be my ultimate travel charger.

UPDATE: How about a Smart Cover or Smart Folio that draws power from the iPad and has embedded Qi charging coils.

It's handy for traveling light since you only need to bring one charger to charge everything (phone, watch, airpods) instead of multiple chargers.
That's fair use case. Will it even be able to charge the watch though?

Removing 3D Touch means more internal volume available.

Read the post then. This is based off of information that came out today.

And in my Origional post I also said we don’t need the same story from a ton of different sources. It’s been reported. Many times.

I guess some take comfort in daily reminders. I only need to read something once unless there is some new bit of information to be learned. If it’s just the same thing I’ll chime in.

Mac rumors, I head the new iPhones have the ability to charge other devices off of the internal phone battery. They can post an article about me saying this tomorrow because I’m a different source.

That’s my point. Nothing new to see here

It’s a bullet point for the keynote.

Reverse charging, third camera, faster chip and improved FaceID (gen 2) is probably what we will get, along with a night sight kind of mode for the camera.

I can wait for the redesign.
All those seem like interesting features besides the reverse charging. I would rather they just charge less for the phone instead of adding that.

Why not?

The S4 battery capacity is less than 10% vs. iPhone XS Max.

If the 2019 iPhone has 20% larger batteries, it's an even easier exercise.

just wondering, is that another empty promise
I don't know I totally lost my faith on apple
it seems like Tim is training for a political aspiration
because that is what politicians do
they promise and do not delivery
cough cough
Mac Pro, air power

can't blame your costumers for not believing in you anymore
maybe they will deliver this time, they are apple
what the worse it can happen, it just get delay like many other products recently
Timmy boy what I'm going to do with you
still love apple I just don't like what his CEO is doing

Hope it gets possible to charge my Apple Watch on the back of the iPhone, that way, when traveling I only need to bring a lightning charger

Something like this

Ideally, you'd see a prompt from the face-up phone (via light sensor) asking whether you'd like to charge or be charged.
More likely screen down defaults to charger, screen up receives. Using ambient light sensor and/or accelerometer to determine configuration. Asking doesn’t sound like something Apple would do. Other than the security questions they ask for 2FA and such, that is.

Don't see why not. Apple Watch battery is relatively tiny at ~279 mAh.

Companies can even take it one further and build reverse wireless charging into laptops so one charger to charge laptop, phone, watch and airpods. Eliminates all the space taken up by different chargers in my slim sling bag.

Well, it doesn't work with most 3rd party chargers. Does it have a different charging method or is this just because Apple wanted to make a hefty profit on their chargers for the watch?

Well, they don't have a great record at this point with wireless charging multiple kinds of devices. Cough cough Airpower

That'd be awesome. set my watch on top of my iPhone while I'm in the shower. No stupid proprietary charging puck.

That's what I am hoping for too. Then all the people who are flocking to Nomad to order their "Apple Watch" edition Qi charger will have a worthless charger. I am thinking of getting the non-Apple Watch version with the hopes they adopt the normal Qi Standard.

Except that not all of us lay our watches flat to charge, some of us have bands that are closed loops even when off. For those of us, or people that like the clock feature, the upright watch charging will remain superior. I also suspect that IF Apple could support standard charging they already would have. Some tech things are easier to say than do.

So you could plug the phone into a cord and turn it upside down and charge your airpods at the same time? ...what happens if you plug a phone into a charge cord AND put it on a wireless charger at the same time?

Guys, please review your earlier opinions of Samsung's Powershare feature here before you comment differently on Apple's adoption. We don't want others to think we're brainwashed.

On Samsung you activate powershare in the notification window similar to turning on a hotspot or NFC.

Although your idea makes sense I don't think it's a good idea for power options to be triggered just by orientation.

I don't think I would ever use this for the Airpods since the case does this quite efficiently and speedily several times over, but if it allowed the Apple Watch to be charged this way...now THAT would be a useful bonus!
