+1 - I am also curious how 560X compares to 560, however I expect this to be slightly overclocked old model

So here I sit with my brand new MBP 15" 2.6 i7 16 GB 512 SSD, and I have to say it is a joy. Absolutely lovely machine. So those of you sitting on the fence as to whether or not to get one, I say go for it!
So happy for you! I hope you take lots of time this week to bond with your new machine!

We are lucky to have such powerful technology available to us.

(Looking at my Apple Watch whose screen resolution is greater than that of my first computer, the Apple IIc.)

I'm simply having a hard time justifying $2,399 for a MacBook Pro with the same screen resolution as my 2012 model from six years ago. Especially as this is likely something Apple will fix next year with the 2019 models.

Glad you're happy with your purchase though.
While there are many debatable complaints about the current mbp, I definitely don't think the display is one of them. It is one of the best displays available ranking high up there with the unbeatable trackpad. Resolution wise it might not be the highest now but mbp suffers a negligible amount of blb unlike the current offerings of 4k panels. The quality check is amazing, the gamut superb, and the pixel density is high up there that I wouldn't mind if they upped the resolution to 4k next year.

Probably a dumb question, but can you use the machine without implementing True Tone? That is, there is an option to turn it off?
Yes you can turn it off.

I’m with you! Excellent positive comment.

Agreed! The display is absolutely gorgeous. I mean what are people wanting? This display is WAYYYYY better than any other laptop I have ever seen. Sad that people seem to just find things to complain about that are stellar as is.

Nice! Glad you got yours. Trying to be patient with my expected delivery between the 18th and the 20th. It is pretty difficult, but I get to live vicariously through folks like you . Glad you like it so far!

I’m sure you’ll love it. Sometimes waiting is half the fun. ;)

Come on guys let the guy enjoy his MBP.. at least for some minutes. Then let the deluge of questions and queries come!
You don't get on MacRumors and say I have a brand new MacBook Pro and not expect to get slammed with tons of questions.
:cool::D

A quad 13" is my more likely replacement..... but that dang i9 is what I'm feenin' for.

The keyboard feels good and sturdy to me. I don't foresee any issues with it, but only time will tell. It is a tad quieter than the '16 and '17 machines (a little less clackity) but still has some click to it. The feel is pretty much identical to the '16 and '17 machines though. To be honest, I had both and never had any failures with those keyboards so I may not be the best judge. The very short travel of the keys does take some getting used to. If it were up to me I would have never changed the original MBP keyboard design, but I guess Apple knows best ;) Other than that the machine is gorgeous. The True Tone display is pretty awesome!

Worth upgrading from the 2017 or no?

The problem is I have the 512gb version so I would want a lot for it, and I figure I would probably be lowballed especially if I attempt to sell it on FB marketplace.
I’ve always done really well selling mine. You might just give it a try and see what happens. You don’t have to take the lowball offers.

512gb is quite a standard upgrade, a lot of people need at least that much, so I don't think you'd lose much if you decide to resell. It's not like you got a 2 or 4tb. The keyboard might make it lose more value OTOH.

Nice, congrats!

I am going to start eating over my 2016 MBP, so hopefully it will fill with crumbs, and I will "have to" buy a 2018 while I wait for a repair...

Question: Do you think potato chips or a blueberry muffin will be more effective??

I would not let the resolution hold you back unless you work a lot with high res video. And even then an external 4k monitor would be better for that scenario.

Has it even been 24hrs? You're still in the honeymoon phase lol.

Having owned a 2016 MBP, and now a 2015 MBP, yeah the resolution is the same, but the 2016-current MBP displays are WAY better than prvious ones. The brightness, contrast ratio, and color depth are just completely beyond the old ones. After selling my 2016 (couldn't deal with the god-awful keyboard, but that's another thread), the thing I miss the most is its display. It was gorgeous.

Why did you go with the 2.7 and not 2.9? I’m trying to decide what features I need and not waste money
