No, there isn't.

I hate pineapple on pizza, and I have every right to say it. If I go to physically assault people who put pineapple on pizza, then I should be locked behind the bars, because I have no right to hurt others physically just because I do not like what they do with their food.
Putting pineapples on pizza is a choice. Hate is called into question when it refers to something that is not a choice like race, gender, sexual orientation and religion (to a lesser extent). Also, inciting others to hurt people based on those same criteria is also a form of hate speech even if you physically hurt no one yourself. Also, what did pineapple ever do to you?

Huh ?

Oh, CNN. (Check the date). I post links, you post links, I laugh at yours, you laugh at mine. I post CSPAN videos, and there are still problems.

So let’s go with the facts. Laptop is factual, story was suppressed, FBI paid over $3 million to twitter.

Believe it was for information, believe it was for suppression of information.

Believe the polls that say it affected the outcome of the election, or don’t.

I don’t care either way…

Politics aside, Apple doesn’t have a social media site or a search engine. What speech are they suppressing? Same with Amazon I guess.
Apple pulled a few right wing leaning apps from their App Store for breaking hate speech rules. One of Apple's skills is curation which is why most customers approve. That entails removing garbage from their feed and devices and has nothing to do with constitutional rights involving speech. More conservative misinformation to trick gullible constituents. Read the EULA.

Story was suppressed for a day, BFD. And yes, the government has to pay companies when they submit large numbers of subpoena's for data, so?

Everything is a flipping conspiracy, no wonder we're in bad shape...

Edit - Has no one heard of Occam's razor?

If you want to believe in conspiracy theories, you do you. And you haven’t posted any links. Probably because you know it’s unfounded BS.

Right wingers love to play the victim. If Apple announced the ability to side load apps and that they would use the same notarisation that macOS uses I can almost guarantee you that right leaning people would complain that it is 'too difficult to install apps' and that 'Apple is trying to oppress us by expecting us to be computer experts'. The right wing in the US are perpetual victims. The whole right wing identity is about playing the victim or getting angry at stuff that most normal people would shrug their shoulders and display indifference to.

Yes, there is. If you go around saying I hate gays, POC, take your pick- that can quickly inspire a harmful climate for those people that affects their well-being and safety. Come on. If you really felt the need to use “pineapples” as an object in the sentence it really demonstrates your ignorance. Pineapples are objects, people are not.

Interesting that this exact forum thread is blocked by Ad-Guard on my phone. I might need to find other ad blockers for iOS. Any recommendations?

@JudiClover I believe the reason Twitter hasn’t been subpoenaed is because it was its actions releasing the Twitter Files that first revealed the deep ties between FBI operatives and its staff. This then raised questions about if similar manipulations had taken place with other social media companies.

I’m not familiar with the finer details of US politics, how much bite do these subpoenas have, can the CEOs say anything or does everything they say have to be confirmed with evidence?

Also, I’m not American but why does debate always have to descend to Mah Democrats vs Mah Republicans?

There’s a lot of different issues to talk about that require nuance and instead some just resort to ‘I don’t like this about Dems/Reps but I LOVE this about Reps/Dems!’ It’s like they’ve been radicalised.

Are they looking for :
* hate speech
* conspirationist speech
* anti-vax speech
* anti-science speech
* anti-reality speech

I didn't have the impression that we had too little of it.

It's easier for the masses to simply be "entertained" with a fight between 2 teams. Just like sports.

I probably won't comment further as I have been banned quite often enough here. Even with this comment, I might get banned, for some reason.

Gotta keep them fighting. It gets dangerous if the peons figure out they should have been allying against these crooks all along.

U.S. House Judiciary Committee Republicans plan to investigate whether the federal government "colluded" with tech companies to "suppress free speech" on issues like COVID-19. Republican lawmakers have long suggested that social networks and tech companies engage in anti-conservative bias by suppressing conservative voices.
Well ... they have, there's literally testimonies from the workers of those companies and written evidence like "the twitter files".
Leftist ideology is deep within Big Tech, it's no longer a conspiracy theory but an actual well-evidenced conspiracy, and being the hypocrites that the left is - "freedom" and "equality" in their doublespeak means strict moderation and censorship.

None of this will change until freedoms granted physically are granted virtually: for example force every private company starting with the big ones to keep business separate from religion and politics, and act as a business and not as en editorial board or a PAC.

I’m an Australian centrist, and the projection and utter lack of self awareness displayed in your post is just breathtaking, especially in the context of the last decade.

The American left has taken the form of the reactionary religious right of the 90s at this point, and you’re either oblivious to it, at best, or at worst, a knowledgeable participant

People can express hatred for whatever they want, and justify it however they want; that is not direct incitement. Your historically ignorant, authoritarian standard would imprison the entirety of congress, and then some.

Likely in the states where it’s not a legal term, sure. In Canada, yep, that probably would be the case. Then again, we don’t have frequent mass shootings of minorities with shooters often claiming hatred or rhetoric targeting minority groups either. Hate crimes still happen, but are more often labeled and prosecuted as such more frequently.
