Apples planning 2 build 50 retail stores outside of american this year.:eek:

that is true good point. but think of this. if those international stores were currently built now, how many of them would be stocking the iPad when the US stores have them in stock?

(the answer is not many, if any) ;)

Why do they need to take the store down worldwide when it's only going to be available for pre-order in the US?

they would upgrade each server at the same time, makes it much easier to do it in one big hit rather then each place individually. then all they have to do is refresh it quickly to enable full support when need be.

bed time for me. i hope us aussies will get something useful out of it!

Or you just hop in the car, drive an hour and 15 minutes to Oberhausen (there's a biiiiig Saturn over there) and buy one! I've got a trip to Rome planned at the end of May so I'm very tempted picking up one over there.
Are you the guy who studied at RUG and lived in Workum? The Commodore Amiga guy?

LOL, well Apple aint convincing me to buy my first ever Mac until the MacBook Pros are updated, so they better hurry before I spend the money on something else!

Apple Store is down now so you might not have to wait long

And so it begins...

I have a feeling this is going to be an expensive day. (Thinking iPad + new MP if they come out as rumored. My wallet just shed a tear even as my heart thumps with joy).

Because you are still buying something in the store even if it will be delivered in a few weeks. All Apple Store updates require the store be taken down. Technically, it's not necessary, but it's Apple's way of stirring the marketing pot.

I'm really hoping that for the 'next-wave' iPad countries (UK, Australia etc) we at least get prices and the ability to pre-order. I've a feeling it will just be MacBook Pros for us though.
