Exactly correct. I am actually more afraid of someone texting while driving. Now that actually scares me more... and how do we stop that? Make handheld devices illegal! There, more lives saved. Outlaw the iphone, android, etc.

I would say outlaw all cell phones that have text capability (/sarc).

Pull them... As trauma surgeon I see the tragedies caused by drunk drivers EVERY Day. Whoever is on agreement to provide means to avoid check points is invited to my local trauma center to see the victims and their families. If we can save one life, one innocent student or parent, even someone who made the mistake of drinking and driving... I would consider this worth.

Besides, the cost of taking care of those who do not die, but spend weeks months or years in the hospital due to a drinking related accident is enormous.

Speed radars are another big issue. In my state, its ok to refuse a helmet while driving a donor-cycle, as we call them, yesterday alone, we lost one kid who is waiting for transplant procurement and half a dozen were admitted with severe injuries most of them traumatic brain injuries while driving motorcycles.

And what if the apps encourage people to not drink and and drive? You're basing this on nothing. No facts whatsoever on whether or not this will promote or make drunk driving easier. Please don't be my surgeon if you're not into facts.

You can still use Safari and look this info up on a website. Checkpoints should be illegal anyway. They pretty much are anyway but they have their loophole which makes it ok. It's a moneymaker for the county or city. I went through a checkpoint a while back just south of Charlotte in SC. The driver was being arrested for DUI and one of the passengers for having a pain pill without a Rx. The cops asked me how much cash I had on me to make this trouble disappear for my friends. After I told them that I don't carry cash, they point me to the ATM that was conveniently located steps away from the checkpoint. I told them to go eff themselves. Then they treated me like a POS and made me walk home on a dark street at 3 am. I didn't really mind. It gave me an opportunity to burn the beer calories like I normally would the next day. I didn't have my phone. Corruption is everywhere, people. I dislike most people that where the badge. Yeah, I'm prejudice in the same way that they are prejudice towards most citizens.

Agreed. Most people don't even know that as U.S. citizens they are not a party to the Bill of Rights. The only right of a U.S. citizen is the right to live here. They took care of that over 140 years ago.

I prefer to see the apps pulled. Some apps are best not available. Maybe we could add others, like the locations of the various whorehouses, and best corners for buying drugs.

It certainly doesn't hurt to add to Apple's No Porn standards.

But why? Trapster has been around for a long time telling people about red light cams and speed traps. Haven't heard any complaints about it warning people about these things.

So how is warning someone about a DUI check point any different? I mean if I want to run red light and speed today I would want to know where the red light cams and speed traps are right? These things are illegal too

The servants have become the masters. People are so fearful, fat and happy that they'd rather not do anything about it. We fight the de facto state in court on a regular basis. Most of the cases get thrown out for lack of jurisdiction, or as they say "jurisdictional economy" (it gets too expensive to fight us). It's all just a money thing. They don't care.

Who said this app was exclusively for drunks avoiding the cops? I have never been, nor ever plan to be, drunk, but I'd choose to avoid the cops just because I dislike the stress of driving anywhere near them.

Nope it's not illegal. The law enforcement is required to announce them, plus many radio show hosts announce them as well.

but I definitely agree with other posts, that if a guy is too drunk to drive, he's probably to drunk to use his phone and look for DUI checkpoints anyway. It's probably for people that are not super drunk, but are maybe 0.09% instead of 0.08%.

Overzealous democrats and republicans on both side need to suck it.

Traffic Apps

In Ca. the routine is to set up a DUI Checkpoint, then set up cops on streets around the checkpoint. Trying to avoid the checkpoint will also get uyou pulled over.

Nothing wrong with the app. I use the Android version.

BTW - My sister was killed by a drunk driver. I believe in freedom of speech and expression. The Constitution is not in place to protect favorable or popular speech, just the opposite. Do I like racist skin heads? No. I'll protect their rights to speak and be idiots though.

I feel for all of the victims of DUIs and know that I have personally called the police on a car that was very obviously had an impaired person behind the wheel but as a non drunk driver if I want to avoid being hassled I should be able to.

You called in a drunk driver? Aren't you the fascist! Who are you to interfere the drunk driver's right to drive recklessly and kill someone? You are a responsible citizen that's what. I imagine you might feel differently about this matter if you ever bothered to console a family who's loved one was killed by a drunk driver. I rarely, if ever, agree with Sens. These Senators need to fix the real problems and stop trying to infringe on Constitutional guaranteed free speech. Just because some one doesn't like what is said doesn't mean they don't get to say it.

This app differs in no way from me calling my buddy and informing him that I just drove through an DUI inspection. Should I not be able to do that either?
