Mine does by about 0.01mm. It's almost imperceptible but there's an extremely slight movement if I try to make it move by putting a fingernail on each side and forcing it. No sound or rattle. Definitely more solid than any button on my iPad or iPhone though (again, by putting a fingernail on either side and wiggling).

I have my watch replaced due to an issue with screen and now it has an issue with side button. Apple Support set another Express Replacement for it.

Describe these issues, we'd like to know more.

As similar as the others above, its side button is wiggly and rattling.
It rattles when I touch the side button and also when taptic engine is vibrating.
I've called to Apple Support one more time and they've already set a new ERS for me. (yay for AppleCare+)

Does your side button wiggle a bit? Mine does. Not the digital crown, but the button below it.

Judging by the posts here and comparisons to my SS vs my wife's sport,
The Steels have some wiggle and the Sport does not.

I was gonna post the exact same question.

SS here with a slight wiggle. I think it's probably within speck. Not going to fight it as long as it doesn't get worse.

I noticed this on my 42 mm sport and was going to post a thread here! Seems that it's hit or miss, it's either solid or there's some give to it. Mine isn't noisy but it's definitely not solid. I'm okay with it for now, but if it seems to get worse I'll definitely be giving Apple a call.

Mine wiggles quite a bit and causes some issues with Apple Pay double click. I'm waiting to go in until stores around me get some replacement units in. I have a 42mm Space grey.

Mine wiggles a bit. The watch is otherwise perfect so I don't care too much. If it gets worse I'll take it in.

42mm space grey fwiw.

Mine wiggles slightly, but so do the buttons on my iPhone 6+ so I assume it's fairly normal.

Mine is the same (42MM SS), not only is it loose, you can actually hear it rattle a little.

There's a couple other threads out there about the same thing, only seems to affect the stainless models. I am going to head down to the Apple Store next week to compare to some others, as the watch is otherwise perfect.

It maybe just normal, or maybe a problem, but I am a little disappointed regardless.

I have had 3 or 4 different watches in my hands (all SS) plus mine (SS as well) and on all of them the button had a slight play in it, even at my try-on appointment.

I think it's normal or at least within specifications. I also think that Apple will probably exchange no questions asked if it really bothers you. My first iPhone 5S had the same issue. I actually went through 3 units (2 of them because of other issues) and all but the last one had a loose power button. But they happily exchanged just for the button.

So, if it bothers you, make an appointment and see what they say. As far as I can tell, even an exchange might yield the same result.

Loose crown

Mine is very similar. It makes a noise at certain points during the rotation. Also, i have to push on the crown with force when scrolling otherwise it won't scroll up. So basically if I scroll the crown and turn it with the lightest touch it won't scroll or zoom. My wife's aluminum models crown acts contrary to mine.

I took it to the apple store and they want to send it back for repairs. I have decided not to do it for now because it works if I push hard enough.

I just love my watch besides this one problem. BTW, I have the SS version.

Thank you for chiming in! I was curious as to whether the button was normal or not. It's pretty much in line with buttons on my other Apple devices (iPad, iPhone), but I would have expected a bit more precision in this case.

I doubt I'll bother with an exchange, the button works perfectly fine and has no impact on performance. Loose on the SS seems normal, and as you suggest the replacement may have the same issue (and possibly others).

We're talking about the side button, not the crown. The crown should not be loose, no wiggle and just have a mild resistance, giving you a smooth turn.

I'll stick with mine for now as well. If in a month or two I feel it's bothering me I'll give Apple a call. But I don't think so.

38mm SS here, and it rattles every so slightly every now and then when I move my wrist, and it’s getting annoying. Sometimes when I have the Watch in one orientation for some time and then move my wrist, the rattle is more pronounced as I imagine the button has sunk in more due to gravity.

Makes an otherwise premium device feel cheap. This was also on my iPhone 5 and 5s.

AW button wobbly!

42mm SS WSB here - 'friends' button is wobbly and has a fair bit of play as compared to the partner's 42mm SS BSB which is rock solid...

Am I being paranoid or should this be something I get looked at my a smurf?

Still waiting for my SS, but I don't think it's being anal to expect a $600 watch to not have a rattled up button. If I could hear or feel it moving around, I'd be irate.
