Just thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone has managed to snap one up in the UK stores.

I called up Leicester about an hour after they released and they knew about the updates, but they had non in stock.

I'm wondering whether it's worth the trip to Leicester to check in store.

If you do go and there are let me know, I'll be giving them another ring tomorrow morning otherwise!

And whatever you do don't buy my 2.66 hi res!

Hahaha you don't need to worry about that.

I'm going for the 13" one :p

I have just now phoned up the Liverpool ONE store here in Liverpool, they told me they will be getting them in tomorrow during lunch time.

Goddamnit. I wish I was back home in Manchester. I would totally treck all the way to pick one up (that said, if Manchester stores didn't have any!)

None in Regent St - went there this evening after work. They still had c2d ones on display as well.

Glasgow Store says they'll be getting them within a few days, but should definitely have them by the weekend.

I've just phoned the following 3 stores:

- Bristol Cribbs Causeway - have the 15" in stock but not the high resolution

- Bristol Cabott Circus - Does not have them currently

- Bath - Does not have them currently - probably by end of week

I'm also not completely convinced Bristol Cribbs Causeway does have them ! as why would they have them but not the other stores..

I only just got up. hahaha. I dunno if I have time to make the drive to Leicester.

I am flying out of Gatwick next Friday and hoping the Dixons Tax-free store will have the new 13" 2.4Ghz in stock by then. I should be able to pick one up for only £851 :)

I have rung the Brent Cross store they have all base models except the 13" in stock same as Southampton. I am ringing up trying to get a high res 15" I don't care which. I would travel up to a 100 miles to buy it. Sad I know I hate waiting I have one on order but will not arrive till 22-23 April.

Indeed I'll probably give them a ring this afternoon if Chkenwing hasn't posted anything.

Well not that I got mine in store, but I ordered mine over the phone (it was customised) and consequentially they told me it would be delivered on the 27th. Ridiculous I know, they said it was due to slow shipping and stock shortages.

So it looks like Apple jumped the gun. They must have known that they had delayed the release far too long and just decided to hell with it. I bet if they had waited another 2 weeks, the number of customers they would have lost would've not been worth it.

Anyways. I got the:

  • 2.66GHz Intel Core i7
  • 8GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
  • 256GB Solid State Drive
  • SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
  • MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display
  • None
  • Backlit Keyboard (British) & User's Guide (English)

... and I tell you what, I CAN'T WAIT! It's my first MBP, because I'm studying graphic design in the fall at uni. I need to get to grips with the OS and whatnot.

:D

Crikey. That must have cost around £2800!

None in local Apple store till the weekend apparently, so I just ordered mine online.

£878 base model 13". Very happy and can't wait!

Bought 13 inch yesterday with a 320GB hard drive upgrade and they've given me an estimated delivery date of 28-29 April  Is this pretty accurate or could I expect to receive it much earlier? Might cancel it and go buy one in store but not sure they'll be stocking hard drive upgrade versions.

Is student discount only for university/degree students?

I'm out of work at the moment (due to ill health), but am doing a CompTIA A+ course in computer technology/engineering from home. It's akin to a long-distance college qualification. It's not a degree or anything, though.

How do you claim the student discount?

It doesn't have to be a university, just select which of the buttons applies to you or your institution.

I think the biggest discounts go to uni students and staff though.
