[UK] Anyone got theres yet (in store)

Sitting here typing this on an 17" anti-glare i7 that I collected from the Manchester Trafford Centre.

The store phoned me this morning and reserved me one.

They seemed to have all the new machines on show. 15" display machines all seemed to have standard glossy screens but they seemed to have plenty of stock.

Not sure the assistants know whats going on as I was told by the first sales guy that approached me, the i7 17" was BTO only and they only had stock of the i5 even though I knew I had reserved an i7 earlier in the morning.

Great machine so far and can't believe how cool it runs after reading all the horror stories on here about how the i7's with product too much heat and cause long term damage.

I'm getting a stock 15" with i7

Main use:
1) Laying down tracks with Logic
2) Doing Uni coursework
3) Programming & Web development
4) A little gaming - simulations, spore and the like

Domestic flights were cancelled for today, but this should not affect shipments because Apple stores get new stock in a fixed cycle.

Yeah but airports across Europe are being closed. 1300BST tomorrow, they hope they'll all be open, but last time this volcano erupted it lasted for over 12 months!

I just went to the Cambridge Apple store and picked mine up! Stock i7 15"!

She's a real beaut. I can't believe it. Time to say goodbye to my faithful old whitebook.

Yes they did. Booked a 2pm appointment with an Apple expert to compare the 17" i5 & i7's. I was astonished to see a small horde of youngsters Facebooking & generally mucking about with the beautiful new laptops-fancy letting 'em do that I thought-fingers on screens & no intention of buying-weird.
Decided on an i7 with Applecare & a free £70 HP printer-with my last ever 15% student discount!
I was quite surprised how readily available they were-when I spoke to Apple to get a quote-they were talking next week for delivery..

So how do you know about the high-res 15" if you were in the market for the 17"? Or were you just curious and asked?

Went to pickup a 13" Basic this evening from Cardiff store and they didn't have any Anyone know if they received deliveries on the weekend?

It was at the Cambridge store. As far as I know all the new MBP's were out on display tho' I didn't ask specifically. There's a £70 rebate against certain new printers-you pay for it then send off copy receipt, detach labels from new mbp & printer boxes & they send you a cheque-I picked it up in the store, if you ordered online they'd send it to you.

Just got my printer.

It's the basic model but it's free!

As rogerram said, you just take the labels off both the MBP, the printer box and then send them both off with your receipt and you get your rebate back.

First, sorry for not noticing your question Z1NX, I was zoned out for most of yesterday playing Spore and setting up Mail and transferring work documents and all that. I somehow prefer to do it manually rather than let Migration Assistant mess up my carefully spun hierarchy and sense of control.

The answer I was going to give was: no, when I asked the girl there if they had any models other than the stock options she said that they didn't. So it's strange that Roger was able to find non-standard options on display/in stock. I was in there yesterday yesterday (Friday) morning at 9ish, so maybe they got more stock later? Sounds odd to me.

Also, didn't notice any youth, but that's probably because I went out early! Lucky for me the entrance to the Grand Arcade is literally, and I mean literally 30 seconds away from my college.

Managed to pick mine up at a PC World today, was quite suprised as I wasn't expecting them to have them in stock for a few weeks yet. Only went in to enquire on a rough ETA lol.
