No way this is for the iPhone. Definitely for the AR glasses. Announce in Spring, new dev tools in Summer at WWDC, and launch in October.

Fellow Milton Keynes person here. The store is always extremely busy when I pass by doing my shopping.

An over zealous manager, will be reined back in by Cupertino tomorrow.

No holiday between 3 Dec and start of January though? Brutal…

I went to the Apple Store to pick up a phone case the other day and I was surprised just how LOUD it was in there. Everyone talking, and there was a Procreate tutorial being run and the instructor had to shout, and it was just all really unpleasant. The promotional photos of Apple Stores and the ads make it seem like a really calm place, like a normal supermarket and big box store. But it's not like that at all. I almost wanted to try the transparency mode on my new AirPods to quiet it down.
My nearest Apple store is just chaos. The interior hasn't changed since about 2009 and as you say with your experience, you can't even hear yourself think. It's quite a big store, yet it still feels quite cramped and overcrowded. Just not a nice place to be. I only go in if I have to for a Genius appointment which luckily for me have been few and far between. Granted it's within a shopping centre so it isn't a 'flagship' location but the rate at which Apple seems to be refurbishing older stores is a snail's pace. No way would I bother going to a Today at Apple event.

So you’re saying that retail employees who bust their butts all year don’t deserve a little bit of time off for the holidays? At all? Seriously?
No, I meant, iPhone season being September/October. No one should be surprised that Apple would really want to block vacation time during its most busy period anyway.

Stores should be well staffed enough that people can take time off for the holidays. Obviously everyone can't get exactly the same days off, but there should be a schedule in place so people can ask for certain days.

Eh? And this relates to the story how?

Expecting more shoppers, more traffic. Unless I misread the post. It's possible that the announcement will play flat. But the same thing could happen here in the US. If the economy still gets worse, who is going to be lining up to buy a new iPhone. We're supposedly looking at potentially over $6.00 per gallon gas, so I'll not be lining up to get a new iPhone, I'll be lining up for gas.

I've had a couple of jobs where employees were denied time off at certain times of the year. I also worked at a company that required people to take vacations off, but took the time out of the banked vacation and PTO time, which really sucked. I'm still miffed over that BS. If the place is going to be closed, 'charging' employees who can't work is rude, and should be illegal!

See articles like this are keeping me from trading in my bought-and-paid-for 12 Pro Max for a 14. If I do, then I wont be anywhere near paying off the 14 in order to get a 15! I’m seriously thinking about skipping the 14. I went to the store today and played with the 14. My itch for it has kinda been scratched now LOL.

But your 12 will be worth even less. It's a gamble...

Yeah best thing might be to trade in now if you can get a good deal and then trade the 14 in. I may upgrade my 14 pro if there's a good deal.
Yea but I will have to pay hundreds of dollars to make the 14 become upgradable when the 15 comes along.

Not being able to take time off during the entire holiday season of December/Early January is kinda messed up.

Not having a job simply due to time off restrictions is also kinda messed up.

Not really news considering that Apple always tells Apple Store employees not to take off before each iPhone release.

BTW in the UK fall is called Autumn, aluminum is called aluminium, sidewalk - footpath, elevator - lift, zucchini - courgette and don’t even get me started on ‘rubbers’….
Wasn't sidewalk "pavement"?
Can both terms be used in british english?

Thanks Apple for releasing a mobile device with a better camera every September. The end of summer holiday season in the northern hemisphere. Around my home I don't take that much photos. And every May I think "let's wait for the newer iPhone, it's only 4 months " ... same with MacBook release dates in October. In the Winter I don't sit outside. Bujt in 2022 they have released MacBooks in June... was an expensive year.
