At the end of the day you get what you paid for. I’ve no experience of these third party bands but I can’t imagine they come anywhere close to the original Apple bands in quality.
I have had ones before where I couldn’t tell the difference. So much so would think they came out of the same factory in China.

Have people had good success with Ali Express for bands? How close are they to the originals?

I’ve got a trail loop and ocean band coming from eBay. It cost me £15 for the two.

I’ll update when they arrive.

I’ve had a few band copies in the past (sport loops, sport bands, Milanese loops and the link bracelet). Most of them you can’t tell the difference!

I don't think a 4-5 inch piece of plastic/cloth is worth $100 whether it has apple's name on it or not - so I have off-brand braided solo bands that work just fine for me. I do get apple bands whenever I can find them on ebay or on sale around $25 - I have several nike sports bands and loops that I got that way.

I do get that and certainly Apple’s official bands are expensive and are overpriced. That said there is no way they are the same quality or will last as long. I’m also not sure if they’re as secure when worn as the official Apple ones. The only third party watch bands I trust are by brands like Nomad. They’re expensive but still cheaper than the official Apple equivalent. Plus they are quality products that last a long time. If I’m spending £850 on a watch I’m not going to pair it with a cheap knockoff band. At the end of the day it’s each to their own.

I get where you're coming from, I just don't see how a piece of fabric an a hook costs more than a HomePod mini.

I've pretty much used only knock of sport loops for the past 3 years and never had an issue with any of them and they still look like new.

In fact Ive just had a sort and I have 14 sport loops that cost me less than £100, oldest being about 4 years old. £700 from Apple? Nah Im good.

A lot of my bands are category A bands from CEX, I tend to leave them a while to drop down in price then get a few, i've got a couple of KO sport loops from Komo bands and they are fairly decent and frequently do deals on multiple bands get one free or discount for several bought at once. Waiting for a little while to see more mainstream stores (read not ali express etc) start stocking the trail loop style bands.

Well I've had my fun, the honeymoon period is over...

I'm returning the Ultra Watch (Black/grey Trail Loop edition) once and for all, due to it's weight, and how easily scratched it can get.

Hope everyone keeps enjoying their watches :)

The S/M Black/Grey Trail Loop is available for pick up today or tomorrow in most London stores. It may be available in other Apple stores around the country.
They are available in lots of stores in the UK and mine arrived directly from Apple today. Four weeks ahead of its original delivery date….that’s M/L

I ordered one for pick up on Monday and picked it up on Wednesday. The one I had ordered a while back was due to be delivered today ( it was too late to cancel it ) but I wasn’t going to be in so I requested delivery be changed to tomorrow. I’ll just return it to the Apple Store.

Picked up a Black/Grey Trail Loop in L from Bluewater this morning, have one of each now and far and a way the most comfy is the trail loop...even more comfortable than the hook and loop originals

My ultra was supposed to arrive from Apple between 24/10 and 31/10. Suddenly late Friday night I got a dispatch notification saying it would be delivered on Monday but I’m out of the country on holiday.

Now I find the idiots at DPD have delivered it yesterday afternoon and just stuck it in an unsecured box outside my house and remarked that I have received it.

I’m not back for a week and in a panic given it’s such an expensive item. Surely they aren’t supposed to do this 🤷‍♂️
I had a delivery of a £14k item recently. I was out all day, didn’t even get a notification delivery was that day as it was coming from Europe. I arrived home at 10pm to find a rather large (but easily pickupable) box sitting on the doorstep in the dark. Thank you UPS 🙈

I've taken a plunge on an Ultra from eBay (can get 10% off any eBay purchase through Complete Savings, so made the price a bit more palatable). Not sold on the size, but like the design language and screen enough to give it a go for a couple of weeks. Worst comes to worst I'll resell it and go back to my S6 if the size is a big barrier.

I've tried one on in store a few times and think I can get away with it.

You can definitely pull it off. Looks great on your wrist.

Ordered my Ultra over the weekend from Costco (£819.99) and it was delivered yesterday. I sold my 6 SS and a Polar Vantage V2 (used to monitor PoTS symptoms) to part fund it. Once I have a decent assessment of the battery life I will sell my 7 SS too. I can almost get 2 days from my watch so I am looking forward to seeing how long this beast manages.

Fortunately I discovered the Athlytic app which covers some of the Polar stats I’ll be missing, Apple really need to up their game on that if they want to compete. There’s a great YouTuber (The Quantified Scientist) who tests all of these watches and time after time the Apple Watch comes out on top for accuracy. Worth a look
at his Ultra review which is less feels and opinion and more science and fact based. After all what’s the point of using a watch for training/sleep monitoring etc if the data is not that accurate.

It doesn’t feel too big for my wrist, nor does it feel heavy. I actually like the steampunk styling and the red screen for evening should be standard on all watches. The only complaint I have is the price.

I’ve left the alpine loop in the box, it seems a little ‘frilly shirt’ to me and I‘m happier with my sport loop which I can adjust far easier.

Ultra Watch is all packed up, UPS collection tomorrow

Just felt too weighty on my wrist, and just niggled me when I had a jumper on etc.

Ach well I tried, but not for me this time :)
