No trail loops in stock but did manage to try one on. Now not sure if s/m is too small. Was a bit fiddly to get on my wrist.
Also tried some AirPods Pro…

They brought out a trail loop in its box to the table and opened it up for me to try on. That one wasn’t part of the Ultra Watch package, it was a standalone strap.

When I bought the Ultra watch I wasn’t sure whether I wanted the alpine or trail loop… which is why they brought out a boxed watch strap as it was easier that opening up one of the Ultra watch packages. I ended up with the green alpine AWU package in the end.

I think the confusion maybe the fact that as I wasn’t going to buy the strap on its own, I couldn’t confirm whether Mr C above was right… that is, they weren’t selling them on their own yet. I’ve personally never heard that they weren’t for sale. Hope this clears it up

They may well be for demo purposes only. I think only the watches have been available recently with the Trail Loop bands.

This may be a big ask...

Anyone on here with 180-190mm wrists with a Large Alpine Loop able to take a few photos?

Would like to see how far the hook wraps around, and surely easier to get on/off over hand.

After thinking about it a bit more, I cancelled my trail loop. I wasn’t that impressed by it to justify the price so ordered an official sport loop for £30 instead. My wife’s trail loop is still on order though so if I change my mind I could steal share that.

Oh and then also ordered the stainless steel link bracelet from Apple 🤦‍♂️

I have a couple of regular Sport Loops which I use with my Series 5. I tried them with my ultra but wasn’t keen on the fact that the lugs are made from black plastic and they look odd on the Ultra. I never felt this was an issue with my Titanium Series 5 but I seem to feel different about it with the Titanium Ultra.

Yeah I know what you mean but I only plan to use the loop for running/gym so hopefully it won’t bug me too much!

Yeh I’ve been told the store won’t just exchange the loop, which I think is just a joke

It means anyone just wanting a larger / smaller band, needs to return the Watch for a full refund, then buy new again

Its utter madness!

I bet you anything there‘s a big pile of Watch covers in the back and they just fold them up and add what a customer requires inside, thats why it takes a while before someone comes out with it.
They don’t get wrapped in plastic anymore
So I had ordered an ultra with the medium alpine and I also ordered a large alpine strap too for pickup at the same time from my local uk Apple Store. I preferred the fit of the large so they let me keep the large but refunded me on it and they took the medium away. there was no hassle doing this so I don’t understand the inconsistency between stores?

I had got the Ultra originally with the small Alpine band and bought a medium separately online from Apple. When I went to the Apple Store to do exactly what you did they told me it’s not possible. I was told I have to return and exchange the whole watch. I ended up exchanging the whole watch for another one with the S/M blue/grey Trail Loop then and there which wasn’t ideal as it meant setting up the watch again and going through the faff of calling EE to add my cellular plan. On the bright side I do prefer the Trail Loop bands.

Yeah that’s weird. Not my experience at all. I guess it depends who you get. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Welp after saying it’s too big so I wasn’t getting one I tried it on at the Apple Store and realised it wasn’t too big to my tastes after all so got one 🤣 Had one in stock with a trail loop but picked up the alpine loop as well.

Congratulations !!! Yes I was also concerned before I got my preorder whether it would be too big especially as I hadn’t had a chance to try it on before hand. I have small wrists and thought it would look too big but I don’t think it does. Also if others comment that it does it’s not something I’m bothered by as I think it looks just fine. The larger and brighter display and especially the longer battery life is worth it to me. I also prefer the design to the standard Apple Watches especially the flat display.

If someone comments on it saying that’s too big I’ll just politely reply that’s your opinion thanks but I like it.

I’m not an athlete by any stretch of the imagination and the normal watch is far more than adequate for my needs but when I tried it on I was pleasantly surprised that even on my relatively small wrist it looked fine with good weight, and the flat screen really appealed to me for some reason. The better battery life is handy as I always forget the watch charger when I’m away for the weekend often 🤣

I think it would probably be much more ideal if Apple sold the watch and band as two separate SKUs. That way you can return either for a refund or exchange.
They don’t do this to stop exactly that, they don’t want you to buy a watch on its own. Which is effectively what you’d be doing if you could return the band for a refund. Too much profit to be had on that bundled band!

Home now and managed to pick up a Large Alpine Loop from Apple

Def too big, I only have about 5 slots left and the extra strap length was moving up and down.

Going to return this back to Apple, and picking up a M/L Trail Loop tomorrow instead

See how that goes.

I’ve had the Trail Loop for almost two weeks now and so far I’ve never had that problem. If I’m at work I’m wearing a long sleeve shirt which covers the watch. Even if I’m wearing short sleeves it’s not been an issue so far.

Same thing for me. I ended up with a trail loop though.
