1 - can you upgrade the hard drives yourself ? (Like you can with the ram... Is it easy?)

2- which time capsule equivalents are any good?

My config is exactly the same, ordered 31/12/12 shipped 15/1/13 due here on Monday. Hope yours is on time.

Thanks for help and clarification.

Wednesday 23 January is the estimated delivery day shown in My Orders on the Apple site. Just got a bit excited when I say "21-Jan-2013 15:00:00 GMTRequested Delivery Date and thought it would mean it would be here Monday

One last thing, what does this mean:

"19-Jan-2013 09:44:00 GMTDelivered to Consignee"

In the Remarks column is someones name, (Gill is the name shown).

I had a UPS tracking number as soon as apple said I could track it, but never been able to find it on expeditors with the 82 number? Not sure if it means anything though. Ups still show mine as delivery on Monday although it hasn't moved since 4:23 when it arrived at Donny

Hey,

Mine was ordered on 29th of December (payed via WireTransfer). Changed on 3rd or 4th to next status.
Now it's already shipped, with an estimate of 10 days - so 29th of january.

Got a question about my order though: I ordered with AppleCare - Auto Enrole. Thus it needs to be combined at and only then I will get an tracking number. Do you know why this is the case - sounds a bit complicated? Any experiences if this will really need ten days for shipping to my home?

Thanks!
greetings

my first post having been a long term lurker!

ordered 27" on the 28th Dec, shipped today, with estimated delivery by 24th, so im sure it will be on plane with at least one of you. Expeditors says he has his passport and is booked on a virgin plane bound for London Heathrow on monday. Hope the flight cancellations dont affect it, and that no one has tampered with his bags.

3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2X4GB
1TB Fusion Drive
NVIDIAGeFrc GTX 680MX 2G GDDR5
MAGIC TRACKPAD-Z
Apple WL Kybd+User's Guide-B
COUNTRY KIT-B

already got a magic mouse, and a 16GB upgrade waiting for it. Just need to decide on whether to migrate from 2008 MBP or start fresh and clean.

I ordered the EXACT same spec today (20th January). I thought about the i7, but I really don't need it and the biggest bang for my pounds is fusion and the 680.

Delivery is 3-4 weeks, quoting 15-22 February. Cannot wait! :D

I think 'Consignee' may be UPS... mine was someone called BobRyk!

Answer to number 1 - No

My RAM hasn't arrived in time for installing into the machine on Monday... so a question... is there a problem with running the iMac with it installed 16Gb RAM and then adding the additional 16Gb a day or two later?

Some people seem to think you need to install the RAM before first power-up.

Not at all. In fact in plenty of other threads, the overall advice would be to set the machine up with its stock memory to make sure it's running ok before changing it. As long as you can swivel your machine where you have placed it, it really is very easy installing RAM. Check on YouTube if in doubt but much easier than previous generation.

Hope this helps.

Good luck with delivery tomorrow anyway.

With all this snowing going on, I can't help but wonder how dedicated UPS are with their deliveries. I want that Cast Away level of determination. My delivery is due on wednesday according to the UPS tracker and its 'on time' so far.

I am the same. At the moment it's on UPS 21 - edit now flight UPS5X21 - flying to Cologne via Dubia (where it refuelled about an hour ago). I assume it will fly from Germany to uk either tonight or in the morning. Assume we are on the same flight?

No idea, Ive only got my phone as access to the Internet and its way too 'finicky' for me to want to even attempt to find out. I've just gotta have faith and trust the UPS tracker (which at one point told me my package was in china then Germany then china again) lol!

UPS Tracker is pants. My iMac left Germany at 4 am Saturday morning and han't arrived anywhere. It's due in Scotland tomorrow.

Yes, I had the same status. I think it might have just been the system asking Cologne for advanced customs paperwork while it was still in China (or we just missed the flight!). Admit it's a BT silly checking flight tracker, but it keeps me happy while I am waiting!?

Ordered 3 dec from the local retailer. And still waiting for mine :(

I'm in the same boat. Ordered on 3. Dec from a local retailer too. I did so, because I can get more EDU discount this way. So far not ETA. But i really hope will be here next week (around 24, 25 Jan) as production speeding up.

It's really the longest and HARDEST wait ever for a Apple Product ever!

Same here, better EDU discount this way. This will be my first mac, hope it's worth the wait :)

When I ordered the iMac on the 16th of January, I was mentally ready to wait until the estimated delivery time which is 14-25 february. But then I started reading this thread. People started getting their iMacs just two weeks after ordering.. Now I check my order status almost 10 times a day, and each and every time it says "processing items" :(

Me too here in Australia, I ordered a top 27" with i7, 680mx and 1Tb Fusion on Dec 1st, 7 weeks on I still have no ETA.

I just cancelled my order placed at a local reseller, I got tired of waiting, have waited since November 30th . Placed a new order on apple store, est. arrival 19-24 February...... Hope they are about to speed up these productions soon.

I did the same. Most retailers just don't know when they get stock. At least with Apple you know when it's coming and can order the fusion drive!

mine will arrive tomorrow, a week after the date of shipment! do not listen to the date specified by Apple, the right one is the one which indicates UPS! For Apple, my imac is already on my desk!
