Hmm. Anyone know if you can preorder the iPhone in all countries with an Apple Store? They're about to open their first one in Sweden (on Saturday or something), and since I'm gonna grab one without a contract, it would be much nicer to just preorder it online and have it delivered on the release day. But maybe that's only available for countries which are in the first release wave?
So maybe the question should be: are all countries with an Apple Store in the first wave or has it always been US, UK, Japan and so on... ?
I don't think that the presence of an Apple store has any impact on launch dates for a particular country. Spain has had a physical store since 2010 but is still on the second wave of releases.Hmm. You have to have your country part of the first wave
I think thats normally, US, UK, Germany, Japan Aus and something i am missing
The most recent launch (new iPad) started in:You forgot Canada...![]()
1st wave was USA, Canada, Australia, UK, France, Germany and Japan.
2nd wave was Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
for the people that bought the 4 and 4s around release time:
what are the chances of the iPhone 5 running out?
I'm planning on buying a 64GB model to replace my 16GB 4 but The earliest ill be able to order it on is on the 24th. do you think it'll run out of stock by then? prefer delivery or pre order and pick up. don't want to queue.
Stock will never 'run out' if you are ordering online. But obviously you will have to wait longer. Do apple take payment at time of purchase or once shipped? If it's once shipped and the shipping date is after the 24th, then you're golden!
Apologies, I was referring to the network 3 rather than 02, which would make sense that they can do that instore as they did launch the iPhone with 02, way, way back.
This typically isn't available for new product launches (iPhone 4 was the last time they allowed it) - you can either pre-order for delivery or queue up at the store. So if I want to order from the Apple store and reserve for pick up from my nearest Apple store, does the online store allow me to do this? If I reserve a phone for pickup, does it allow me to state which store I want to reserve with

If that is the case then I'll go for that option as I always manage to miss my launch day deliveries and have to go driving on Saturday morning to some far-flung courier depot, like UPS in Tamworth. However, this wasn't available for the 4s or iPad 3, or when I got my latest MBP in March 2011.I just spoke to the Apple Store in Bath and they said that they are pretty sure that you will be able to reserve on line and pick up from the store.
A question for those of you that have pre ordered before. Do the networks (I'm with O2 but out of contract) get their info up pretty quickly or do pre orders through apple start before you even know what's going on with your particular network?
Don't want to wait for O2 to then find out I'd have been better off ordering from Apple but be too late ordering from them to get it on release day!
O2 didn't do pre orders last year for the 4S, and they were also the last network to release their tariff's for the 4S. That contributed to my decision to leave O2 and buy the phone from apple.
