The package is currently sitting in Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong so the estimated delivery can't be right, surely? Time to purchase a case for it before it arrives!

i ordered kavaj berlin case in black .. looks good

It is a brilliant case. There is a video on their website if you struggle to get it to stand up in landscape orientation initially (the leather can be a little stiff) that shows the little trick you may need to use. I wouldn't be without my Kavaj Berlin now (the mini is a beautiful device but gen 1 was too easy to scratch).

Only, before I jump in, I would like to know the 3G/4G speed loss from tethering an iPhone 5's connection to the Mini. (I can only assume there is a loss; I haven't tethered before.) Is the loss negligible, or does having the local cellular chip and plan make the extra price worthwhile?
I tether my first gen mini to me iPhone 4S multiple times a day using Bluetooth and it works flawlessly every time. Speedtests on the phone itself and the mini show negligible degradation in speed at the 2-6Mbps I tend to get on 3G, but over 4G you may see Bluetooth bottlenecking. Wifi would be better, but slightly more power hungry. The other drawback of wifi over Bluetooth is that you have to go into the Personal Hotspot menu on the phone to get it to initiate the broadcast of the wifi SSID (you can leave it again once connected though) whereas Bluetooth remains available whenever it's enabled in the menu (even if the iPhone is asleep).

JohnLewis have stock, plus 3 year warranty/28 days to Pricematch/Collect from local Waitrose tomorrow.

Surely that's the best place to be buying these right now? It's the route I've chosen!

Currys/PC world also have wifi to click and collect in a day or so. There's lots of choice if you want wifi only.

So anyone managed to figure out how to track the UPS flight which left Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong today with most of our mini's on it? :p

What stock did they have?

I don't know.
I'm not after one myself, I was just making conversation with the guy. He said he was surprised they got stock in without warning, but we didnt go into what capacities and colours.

It was Romford by the way.

I wouldn't mind playing around with a unit. Do any apple stores actually have any demo units on display?

Same as all Apple stores currently.

I had a slightly heated discussion in Apple Store Meadowhall about this yesterday, I went in at 8pm, and when I asked one of the shop staff if they had any Retina Mini's in stock he said that they did, took my details and said that someone was bringing one out to me

5 minutes later some other smug looking staff member came out to say that I couldn't buy it as I hadn't reserved one even though they had them available

I asked if I could reserve there and then and buy it and was told NO, I would have to look online from 6am and reserve one for collection up until 7pm

When I said that it was PAST 7pm and they still had them left (Therefore there was obviously no-one coming for it that day) they STILL wouldn't sell me it

NEVER before have I walked into a store of ANY kind where an item was in stock, available but they were refusing to sell me it because I didn't have a reservation even though the one they had was not even reserved for anyone!

Picked up my 32GB cellular silver retina mini from Union Square Aberdeen yesterday. They had one on display and had a sign about reserving online. Fortunately I had seen the link yesterday morning and the 32GB cellular was the one I wanted (it's for an early Christmas present!) They don't seem to have any cellular models left today though. Ideally I'd have waited for John Lewis and got the 3 year guarantee and possibly a price match with Tesco or similar but I decided to go for it. Glad I did-it's a cracking little machine and I'm not sensitive enough to notice any screen deficiencies next to my other half's Air so as far as I'm concerned it's great.

I'm glad your one was perfect. I went to Watford today to pick mine checked it and there was a big yellow tint at the bottom half of the screen, apple guy saw it and went out back to get another one, same issue again but worse compared to their display models that were perfect! Had to walk out with a refund and no rMini!

In conclusion I've basically returned an Air and iPad Mini R in the span of a week due to yellow tinting in the bottom half of the screens!!

Dunno what to do now!

Are you sure it is a tint and not the bottom notification centre as it sort of translucent over whatever is behind it?

The thing that is frustrating me is that I don't know if the 64 or 128 cellulars are actually "in the wild" yet.

I've been checking stock regularly over the last couple of days hoping that they appear. For all I know they may not be coming to stores for another week or so, so my efforts are pointless.

I had a look but couldn't figure out which flight it was on, the shipment should have arrived in Dubai by now....

About this time every year i start to worry seriously about what is actually wrong with me, and whether i have some sort of mental health issue.

I mean i've got a perfectly good order sitting out there which will be delievered the week after next, why am i sitting here constantly refreshing the apple store, ipad-stock check.co.uk and macrumors every five minutes...EVERY YEAR I DO THE SAME THING!!!

sounds like you might be suffering from the same thing :)

The more bizarre thing is that I'm on a weeks leave, after having completed a very stressful project over the last 8 months. So what do I do do recuperate.... get stressed trying to find a bloody iPad!

I checked a few stores yesterday and have seen a 64GB WiFi available. Can't remember which store though but it's most likely gone now anyway.
