How do you all feel about the new placement of the EU icons? 😆

America: mmWave 5G antenna!
Europe: A picture of a crossed-out bin!

Hello all! I'm loving this thread. I'm here every year when it comes to the iphone and more recently apple watch. Anyway I've preordered iphone 12 64gb in Blue. Sitting at preparing to ship. I'm coming from an iphone 11 pro max. Brilliant phone but its so heavy! I'm out and about a lot more running etc and carrying that lump of a phone with me is getting hard now! So I've down graded. I wasn't also using the camera to its full potential so the down grades in that respect aren't bothering me either.

Like most I've bought at ESR clear case from Amazon which has arrived. I didn't put a screen protector on my 11 max and don't intend to this time either, but I do like a case to cover the back.

I like the idea of the mag safe chargers but i'm not going to dive into apple's yet, other than the duo charger. That will be super helpful for me so fingers crossed that will be a good piece of kit.

I've managed to get 635 for my 11, locked in before the key note speech, will post out when received my new shiny at the end of the week!

I'm sure this has been answered, but I've skim read, am I right in thinking that the charging block from the 11 pro from last year is an 18w fast charger? Would it benefit me to get the new 20w charger?

I'm now wondering whether I should have gone the Pro: I love the shiny edges.

I love all colour variances in Pro. But as Dino F say those will attract fingerprints if going naked. I don’t see that will be the case for iPh 12. I love the way edges are matte colour in 12.

In the USA when stores closed down because of the pandemic, Apple allowed people to wait until the stores re-opened to return items, which in some cases was months later IIRC

Yes, I had to return an iPad keyboard during lockdown, and my choices were either wait for the store in Edinburgh to re-open or book a collection (which was handled pretty efficiently).

I hate these icons. They were barely noticeable on the 11 Pro on the frosted back glass so I'm not sure why they decided to move them to the sides, I just hope they're subtle in real life.

You are lucky. It looks lighter grey and screaming as pro material. I am kinda regret with my choice of pacific blue.
It was always between Graphite and Silver for me (with gold being a dark horse as it does look very nice compared to previous golds...but could be too 'bling')

Having to base this years colours off (bad) press photos from Apple, the silver just didn't look as premium compared to the X and 11 Pro so played safe with Graphite.

I've never understood the appeal of wanting a blue or (last years) green phone.. I think people just get caught up in the hype! Saying that though I think all of this years pro colours should look premium in person

I quite liked the midnight green colour.

Yeah, I am the one who caught up in hype train

Gold being dark horse, couldn’t agree more.
It looks really good but some restriction drag me back. Shiny stuff does not look good with me

I was actually in Apple yesterday and had the exact same question as you. So the apple guy (he was knowledgeable) explained that if you're using an Apple charger (HAS TO BE APPLE OR MIFI) it doesn't matter what wattage the adaptor is as the phone will only draw the power it needs. (e.g. he said you could plug your phone into the iPad pro wall charger for example and the phone would only draw the 20 or whatever Watts it needs. He also explained that the phones have intelligent charging. i.e. say you have an alarm set for 8am the phone will fast charge to 80% and then slow charge to 100% around your alarm. He further said that its most optimal to keep your phone between 20-80% charge at all times and to avoid regularly charging it fully/draining it completely. he also said you should read more on this site:

Further to all this, in settings>battery, where it says maximum battery capacity, he explained that any figure > 83-85% indicates a healthy battery, and that anything below this will need replacing. And so essentially your phone should maintain that 85%+ capacity for circa 3 years if you follow this advice perfectly, from then on either get a new phone or battery (for optimal performance, obvs the phone would still work after 3 years!)

Im going to follow this advice to the T for my new 12 pro :)

I don't know if this question has already been asked and answered, if so sorry but do we still get 1 years worth of free apple tv when we buy a new iPhone?? If yes how do we activate it? Is there a code to set it up?

Yes, if you haven't already claimed it. No need a code to set it up, just open the TV app.

Apple iPhone 12/12 Pro case with a free Anker power wave 7.5 wireless charging pad at o2. It’s £49 but if you know of someone with a UNiDAYS 20% discount code, it’ll be 39 quid.
