Just got an email from Apple, my loan application was cancelled. Cancelled my iPhone 12 Pro Max order too. What an absolute joke this year has been for the new iPhones. Barclays is useless, what a terrible bank, don’t recommend them at all!

Makes no sense since I was pre-approved for the loan earlier this week and it was looking like everything would go smoothly. How wrong I was. Wish I had’ve just bought it upfront or from Amazon now.

Guess nowhere on planet earth will have any left for launch now?
Did they give a reason? Pre-Approval unfortunately doesn’t mean you’re absolutely confirmed you’ll be able to get it. It just gets the early stages complete ie, checks eligibility etc. It’s not till you click that confirm order button that the loan is applied for and goes through.

There must be a reason they will not accept you.

Thats awful !
Must admit i found the whole process quick and easy, applying to Barclays very simple and quick, ordering my phone just took a couple of clicks and went into 'preparing to ship' straight away!

I hope you get sorted...

Does EE issue eSim for pay as you go?

None of the networks do.
Apparently this is some sort of limitation.
I once read this is the handset manufacturers saying the networks can’t for some reason but none of the networks in the world do PAYG eSIM (apart from the global sim companies)

I need to stop looking at pictures of that California poppy case it’s really tempting me with the blue phone 🤣

I’m not usually a bright colours guy and I’ve been going caseless for the last couple years. 10 years ago I did rock a yellow bumper with the iPhone 4 though🤔

Just that they couldn’t verify my identity, which is strange because I just recently finished the upgrade program with them.

This is the email I got:

You could probably buy one from John Lewis on Friday for click and collect the next day.
Thanks, I will try that. What time will they go live?

I see other people have had the text from Barclays this morning. Do I say yes or no to the question asking have I received the goods?

Say no, then it asks if you’ve had partial goods, say no to that and the it asks if you’ve had a confirmed delivery date which you can say yes to.

I'm not sure quite how true this is as this time last year I quite easily bought a '3' Hong Kong PAYG esim online for when I was visiting HK...all very quick and easy; emailed me the QR code minutes after paying online. Seem to recall another network there does PAYG esims too.

When do they actually do the credit check? As that's all the elegibilty that they need surely? They should deny at the pre approval stage if they are going to decline.

My email says it was accepted and started on the 7th, not sure when they actually did the check.

I'm pretty sure they do the check there and then when you click submit. However even the littlest things can cause things to go wrong, for example if billing and delivery addresses don't match or you miss-entered your bank account number and it appears like you're trying to use someone elses bank account
