Thanks guys. I assume I can pay with the card still just not via Apple Pay?

usually use my Barclaycard but thought I’d use the Halifax one as it has 0%
Yeah you can - i had the same problem with Natwest and changed to my Monzo debit card with them over the phone no problem!

At what point do you apply your screen protector?

The second you unbox the phone, avoiding touching the screen at all until its on?

Or do you take the phone out, get a feel of it without any case and then have to wipe the screen and apply the screen protector after?

Not sure if you mentioned it but did you say that you had difficulty placing and finalising your order with your John Lewis card? Mine is linked to Apple Pay and it took me ages to complete my order!

I used the physical card. Using Apple Pay is problematic when buying items from the Apple Store with a high cost. I now avoid it. My order went through with no issues at all. It’s just the charge is still not showing in the app for my credit card. Having spent hours chasing this in the past it’s always gone through and it always shows up eventually.

Last year my Apple Watch made it all the way from China to the U.K. before the change showed up. If there is any issue with the payment not going thru, usually when I used Apple Pay in the past. I always got a message on the apple store app that there was a problem with the order and it usually show the status as “on hold”.

As this did not happen this year (yet) I’m just letting it take its course. I’m slowly learning from each years experience.

Would be easier to apply straight out of the box but personally I need to fire it up and check it fully for defects etc. No point wasting a screen protector if it needs to go back.

I usually do it once everything is set up

So I’m now a victim of the Apple Pay issue with Halifax!

however I can’t seem to update my details online. I want to just pay on the card rather than Apple Pay. Any ideas?
Worried if I don’t get it sorted asap I’ll miss out on the collection

It’s let me change it in the app before. It’s usually of the back of the message they send you telling you there is a problem.

If that does not happen try visiting your order via a computer and hit the edit button next to the payment method. You could just use the online chat if all else fails.

Hope you get it sorted.

Plus we on this side of the pond have nothing else to do between placing the order and seeing the status change next week
Well we have iOS updates tomorrow but yeah the fun will restart on Friday when people start to get their delivery times from the couriers and tracking their positions in their drivers delivery schedule

so managed to track down the first notification of Dispatch from Apple last year and it was at 8.27am on the Thursday before delivery! fingers crossed its early Thursday again this year!

Sent mine yesterday as well. Already at Manchester Mail a centre. Should deliver tomorrow. I got a new 12pro max on Amazon to see me through.
Watch out for returns on amazon for high value (code) tech items. 2 or 3 of these in a year can lead to account closures

Hoping for a super early text just to sit around and wait some more and have another unproductive day choosing instead to drop by these forums 🤪

Instead of AppleCare I've decided to open a Nationwide FlexPlus Account.

For £13 a month you get:

- Phone Insurance (£50 - £125 excess depending on phone and the issue)
- Breakdown Cover (no excess, unlimited call outs)
- Worldwide Travel Insurance

If interested, mobile phone insurance details:

I’ll be interested to read the experience people have with Argos trade-in, I’m planning on sending my 12 Pro to them at the end of the week.

They have emailed me my return label and I’ll box the phone myself rather than request a pack. My only concern is my iPhone is only covered for £100 loss or damage.

I was going to send in my iPhone 12 to Argos Trade In because they had offered the most £519 but I was put off by the comments here regarding likewize (formerly known as Brightstar) who process the trade in. It is not Argos who process the trade in it is likewize (formerly called Brightstar) The quite recent review on trustpilot for Brightstar Argos trade in is really bad. It is titled ‘Avoid like the plague‘. Brightstar have rebranded to likewize but the review is on BRIGHTSTAR 20:20 LIMITED page on Trustpilot. A guy says on the review in August that he sent his phone in and likewize/Brightstar said the parcel arrived empty. The man doesn’t believe they would sign for an empty parcel and that it is not the Royal Mail’s fault his phone is missing. He didn’t know the label they provided only insured the phone for £100, he says he would have paid for Royal Mail Special Delivery for the cover Up to £500. I don’t know if he got any compensation because he says likewize have not been helpful at all and the Royal Mail are saying likewize are liable because the parcel was delivered to them.

I managed to lock in a price of £497 with music magpie for my iPhone 12 128gb on the 7th of September. I would see who else can give you the best price for your phone now and not gamble with the Argos Trade In given the terrible review on Trust pilot. The comments here regarding the negative experiences they have had with Brightstar were also very concerning. I don’t think it is worth the gamble and possible hassle if something goes wrong. I have never had an issue with MusicMagpie, envirofone, Goodbuytech, Mazuma who I have used a lot over the years. Whoever you send the phone to please pay for the postage to make sure it is fully insured for the current value of the phone. I always send my trade in phones Royal Mail Special Delivery insured up to £500 or £1000. I usually pay approximately £7 for Special Delivery but it is worth it to make sure it is fully insured just in case it goes missing or arrives broken. Always take a picture of the package before you send it. I sent an item via Royal Mail that arrived damaged and the Royal Mail would not give me compensation because I had not photographed the parcel before it was sent off. They wanted proof it had been securely packaged and I didn’t know to take a photo of the parcel before sending it. I had to refund my eBay buyer and lost the value of the item so I know not to make that mistake ever again.

Sorry for the long reply I just don’t you sending your phone away to trade in and something goes wrong and you lose most or all of the value of the phone. I hope you manage to trade in successfully and you enjoy your new phone when it arrives.

While you guys were talking about issues with Apple Pay, I started to feel anxious because I also paid with Apple Pay and got a notification from my bank with a 0€ paiement friday when I pre-ordered...

I just got a text from my bank : paiement authorization for 1.279 € but it’s not showing on my bank app yet… hopefully it will show up tomorrow 🤔

Also have this, luckily not had to use it yet but for £13 a month along with the travel insurance which I have used its great

Pretty happy with the bank as a whole aswell, the mobile banking app is pretty good also (can get annoying sometimes with the card reader, but at the same time its a saving grace instead of having the age old problem of having to remember 7 different passwords to log into mobile banking.. 😅 )

I'm surprised by how well priced it is. I read all the particulars for different insurances on Nationwide in detail trying to find the catch. Just that level vehicle breakdown cover alone costs more than £13 a month.

RBS do similar ones £10 a month or £21 etc, they don’t use card readers anymore it’s biometrics in the app it asks you to wink at the camera and it’s done ,they have gone from behind totally behind times to In front imo

You’ve plenty of time, this happens every year with Halifax ;)

Just ring apple in the morning and pay via card.
