A couple of my musings about speculated pricing:

  • The £GBP is weak against the dollar, so I'm expecting ~£100 increase over the 13 range if there has to be a price increase
  • Inflation is up, so Apple has another incentive to increase prices to pay for their wages and salaries going up
  • Taking the 128GB storage tier away from the Pro phones is one method of maintaining margins without increasing prices - Apple doesn't pay £100 for 128GB storage increase to 256GB
  • If more people are forecasted to be hanging on to their phones longer due to inflation, the value of used phones must also surely go up - I look at the second hand Swiss watch market and the price of used watches has increased in correlation with the price increases on new Swiss watches
  • Apple has lowered £GBP prices before - my 13 Pro Max cost less than my 12 Pro Max and my Apple Watch Series 6 cost less than my Series 5

I wonder when Apple plans on sending out invites for the Apple event in Fall. Last year, it was on September 7, 2021, around 09:00 AM PST.

Could Apple surprise us by sending out the invites by end of this month?

You had me there until i saw 2021 .

So all things being equal, pre-orders should be on the 9th and availability on the 16th.

Odd though that the event is on a Wednesday rather than the usual Tuesday.

Looks like it’s Labor Day on Monday 5th ( assume is a public holiday?) maybe pushing everything 1 day out?

So we could be 2 weeks away from invites going out!

Labor Day is definitely a public holiday in the USA so that could explain it.
That is correct.

September 5th, 2022: Labor Day is a holiday. It's having a BBQ day with your friends & families.

September 6th, 2022: Apple Corporate employees are expected to come back to work. Is the first day moving back to Apple Park. Settling all in?

September 7th, 2022: Event Day?

Any experts on eSims lurking here? 😂

I am, for the first time, using an eSim in my iPhone (13 Pro Max). If I decide to upgrade to the equivalent iPhone 14 and have to send my iP13 off to MusicMagpie (or similar) before I can get the iP14, how do I go about keeping my mobile number and transferring the eSim to the new phone?

I’m hoping that there is a simple solution to this problem.

Option 1:Request a physical sim

Option 2: If you got a burner iPhone that supports e sim just use add plan option and it will transfer.

Option 3: If you are not using the number in between then just order a new esim when iPhone 14 arrives but it will require ringing your carrier to active it as you will not have access to the number to do sim swap.

Option 4: Im out of options.

Excellent, thanks Sal09.

How long do you have before you need to send it in? I hear valuation is valid for 21 days...
It is for 21 days. If you’re entrusting it to Royal Mail I would allow a few days. Unfortunately you can’t use the SMARTdrop kiosks for the 13 Pro only the 12 and I assume older devices.

Note that it's 21 calendar days and the phone needs to have been received, tested and cleared on a weekday. I rushed to get a phone to them for a Saturday, which they received but did not test until the Monday. They changed the value as it had fallen out of the validity window and wouldn't honour the booster code I had on the original order. Sold it privately after all that palaver.

I wonder if I send it in on the 23rd - that's ~6 days from now that I can continue using it as my daily driver before I switch back to the 12 Pro. Do you believe this is sufficient time for them to receive, test etc.

Randomly looking through the previous years pre-order threads and looks like I've been involved since the iPhone 7/7+ thread, I did also post in the "iPhone SE orders UK!" thread as well because I ditched my 6S+ for the original SE. 😆

That’s incredible. And I’m on the opposite end, this will be my first one, while browsing from my iPhone 7!

That'll be fine. It's just if you're right up to the wire and leave yourself with only the weekend where there's a problem.

I would budget 2-3 days for it to be sent and received by them, then an additional day for them to test. I do recall they advise an additional 2+ days to test during peak upgrade season.

I've been a member since iPhone 5 was the current release but don't seem to have noticed the UK pre-order threads before 2016, somehow. 🤣

I do remember browsing the site before the OG iPhone came out and I'm sure I had an account but I couldn't find the details when I came back in 2013. 🤷‍♂️
