So through sheer coincidence, my good friend I sold my XS Max to several years ago has asked if he can buy my 13 Pro Max from me. I've offered him £775 as per Music Magpie's best offer, which he's thrilled to accept for a mint condition phone.

Doesn't want to take on the monthly AppleCare+ transfer as he's generally untrusting of extended warranties, and because the XS Max has been so good to him. I'm fine with that as I know he would never hold it against me if there was an issue with the phone after the sale. He knows he can just pay the out of warranty fee with Apple to sort it if needed.

I'm going to upgrade from the 12PM to 14PM this year but for the first time I'm not trading in my old phone but instead giving out it to my wife. Her SE is just about done and she isn't interested in having the latest and greatest.

I’m like 99% not going to upgrade but what’s the best trade in price for an iPhone 13 PM 128gb? I think I saw £700 (+ £20 using the UPGRADE22 code) on MM - is that the best?
You’re a bit late to the party I’m afraid as prices have already dropped in the lead up to next week’s announcement.

This is this morning’s price from MusicMagpie. You’d get another £20 using the code UPGRADE22.

How do you lock the price in on MM? I can’t send it off until after I get a new one, or is it a short term thing?

I’ll assume apple trade in will be a lot less than the £626 MM are offering.

Once you submit the sell order the quoted price is valid for 21 days. So assuming they receive it by then it'll be the full price quoted. I'll be using their smartdrop kiosk to send it to them as it takes postage delays out of the equation.

Go to their website, enter the make and model of your phone. Answer the questions about its condition and whether it’s locked to a network, then you will be quoted a valuation. Add the code UPGRADE22 to boost the valuation by 10% (with a limit of £20).

You will be given two options at this stage: Either proceed to checkout thereby locking in the price for 21 days, or save the quote which gives you 14 days to continue to the checkout. Theoretically then, you can secure the valuation for up to 5 weeks, more than enough time to get your new phone.

I hope this helps.

Though I’d check out the price for my old 12 pro (256gb) which my wife has.. only getting £535 + £20. If it was closer to the £100 less than the 13 price then I’d have traded in the 12 and given her my 13.

Ah well…

Me too but coming from a 12PM and would wish to stick with a pro max so will depend on pricing and new camera features. I've locked in a trade in price with MM today just in case...........

Thanks for the tip of saving the quote. Had already checked out but did it again to get the flexibility in the event I do actually upgrade. I will never send my phone away for trade in until I have a new iPhone in my hand.

Are MM reliable in terms of sticking to online valuation? My 12PM is in absolutely great condition so I have no concerns but almost always used Envirofone in the past. One time they reduced the amount by something ridiculous like £2 which I would have thought to be more costly to administer on their part than sticking with the original quote but hey ho!!

I think that most people here who have experience of them would vouch for MM. Obviously it’s vital that you are honest about the condition of your phone. I’ve never had a problem with them.

Yeah you’re right. I got my prices confused with my brothers 256gb 13 Pro. I might offer to swap him and then trade his one in. He originally wanted the Pro Max but ordered the wrong device by accident lol…

Hmm this really wasn’t the place to come to be talked into keeping my 13PM was it? 😂 I swore I was keeping this for a minimum of 4 years!

Edit: I think the smart move is to lock in the price and decide after the announcement…

I’m planning on sending my iPhone off to MM on Monday next week - will that be enough time for the cash to arrive before pre orders open do we think?
If it arrives by Friday, there should be time.. f it arrives Monday it should be ok, Tuesday maybe but not after that.

I sent mine back via toYou on Wednesday and it was meant to arrive on Friday.

On Friday MM said the items should be with them that day and I’ll get an email when so, but I did not get one. MM’s account pages indicate they haven’t got it yet and ToYou indicated that it was dispatched to the retailing at 8PM.

I'm saying it depends how you get it to them.

I’ve got iPhone saved in MM basket which says 11 days left. I don’t want to send until I’ve got new iPhone, partly as prefer just a straight swap, reason I’ve just done the iUP every year. Will this be enough time?

So swap from saved basket to order basket then get another 21 days? Soon as new iPhone comes, swap eSIM, then send off.

Also when should I pay up this current iPhone iUP? I believe you can also ask for a refund of AC+ or is this automatic when you pay up/off the iUP?

Thanks

If all goes according to expectations you should be looking at getting your new phone on the 16th September, 18 days from now. If you covert your saved valuation to a completed order in 10 days time that should give you until the 29th September to get your old phone to MM. That’s stacks of time.

Great thanks. Wonder if MM upgrade the smartdrop kiosk to allow iPhone 13 by then as well.
