I would appreciate being able to pre-order tomorrow after the keynote.

I know I want a Series 8 stainless steel silver in 41mm, which would greatly simplify what I need to do on Friday pre-ordering a 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max.

Juggling too many payment cards and something's bound to go wrong...! 🤦‍♂️

people worried about buying loads of vouchers and then being stuck with them if something goes wrong and you fall back to a card payment.. Apple are really good in switching payment method over after. Did similar with my MBP palaver last year, went into store and got the refund back onto my card and then paid the amount on vouchers I wanted to.

do I order both pro and standard in the panic and then return one when I screw my head back on?!

I would to cover your bases.

I think the standard 45mm will be available in greater quantities at launch versus last year. Theoretically the same or very similar casing to last year and they've had an entire year to optimise and streamline manufacturing.

The Pro will likely be more constrained due to Apple either testing the water out (the Nintendo effect) or manufacturing complications affecting initial yields (the Sony PlayStation effect).

Exactly this! If the vouchers fail, i'll use a credit card and get Apple to change it afterwards. It's not the first time they have helped out in this regard, have switched payment methods several times

yes, I'm thinking that too.. a stainless steel 45 shouldn't be in that high demand..

maybe, as you say, get the pro as it will be harder to get and then try it out for a few weeks and decide. Worst case I'll be without a watch for a while! I've not had one the past month and just about coped :D

And if you desperately feel the need to close your activity rings, iOS 16 will include the Activity app for the first time. Strap the phone to your wrist and go for a run!

haha would have been handy for my last break! had such a fully on activity week and not able to track any of it!

doesn't feel like I've done any exercise if I can't see the stats for it!

Went to Asda to buy Apple gift cards, asked the mrs if she wanted anything whilst I was there, she said a pack of Apples. The irony was lost on me until now

Were you able to get hold of gift cards at a discount or did you pay full price?

Yes it gets added to your wallet credit which can now be used towards anything off the apple store. Apple know that this will be exploited as all the places that used to offer discounted rates have either disappeared or had their discount rates cut.

I managed to get 20% off Wegift cards via Monese worth £700 so only paid £560. Spent £200 on sainsburys gift cards which in turn I used to purchase Apple gift card in store. Will likely go back tomorrow and buy £200 worth.
Wow, nice, wish I had known about this!

Sounds like an Apple watch may be available to pre-order right after the event. I hope to God Apple at least lets us order the Apple Watch by mid-night or something not right after.
I have a vague recollection of the S7 pre-order process being rather chaotic because there was no opportunity to browse the options before pre-orders went live.

Yes, you're right.

People were so dumbfounded that the Series 7 didn't look like all the renders everybody was so confident about. It just became a bit of a smash and grab free for all.

crazy given that was nearly month between it being announced and it becoming available! to not let people see what's on offer in advance wasn't a great move by the big A

Is it there to protect the crown if this is supposed to be an ultra durable version? Then again, if you were to need that sort of protection from what would need to be a fairly hefty impact to damage a normal AW crown, so close to your wrist, I'd personally be questioning the activity i was doing.

Okay that’s interesting! Didn’t know it was called a crown guard. But is the crown so delicate or it rotates so much that they have to guard it? Likewise for the side button that it has to stick out..

Just being curious and understanding how watches work.
