Apple Care with theft and loss is now also offered in the UK… that’s new I think.

Another for Pre Approval. Was going for 128gb storage but the info on Pro Res has made me go for 256gb. Can’t remember who picked up on this but thanks. Time for bed now. Happy it’s in place for Friday. Roll on…

Sometimes help on the trade in/IUP please.

Currently on IUP with iPhone 12 £46.45/month. Going in the Apple store app says £375 trade in. So I think will have 9 payments left so £418.05 left.

So would that mean if get an iPhone 13, I’d still owe £418.05-375 = £43.05 ?

Not sure if this is a new IUP or 0%, it didn’t seem very clear (to me anyway).

On a side note, can you go from an IUP to just hurting the iPhone on 0% without AC+? Anyone risk not getting AC+?

Thanks

Can anyone remind me of the process to cancel AppleCare on my 12PM?

I bought it outright/paid off the finance so when I sell it, I want to cancel it and get part of the premium back.

I did this in the past but forgot the process to cancel the Care cover.

Thanks
Sahajesh

This is so confusing for me!
So I got the 12 pro on Barclays finance last release date, and today it lets me pre approve with trade in and it says it will pay off part of the loan with me needing to settle £250ish myself.
So on top of starting a new 24 month loan for the 13 pro max, I have to pay £250 cash.
It’s kind of a rip off, right? I got accepted for the new loan anyways and will go ahead, but unsure why it seems to be such a big loss.
And does this mean I’m paying for the apple care in the settlement also? Since I won’t have the phone, can I get apple care refunded for the excess months?

Just call them Apple and ask to cancel the cover. Think I called technical support 0800 number and took about 10 minutes to sort out, though at least half of that was waiting in the usual queue.

Not entirely sure… it asked whether I’d be paying credit/debit or Apple Pay and that’s it. I think it might just mean I simply click a single button come Friday?

Haha no unfortunately not!

Shame it didn’t pre auto payment in full now to make it really snappy… guess they can’t in case there was no stock or something.

Should make it faster to checkout but doesn’t negate the risks of card issue blocks etc

Did you take out the 24 month last time and not IUP? Obviously depending on when the loan started, which model you got etc then your remaining balance can easily be more than the value of the phone.

If you took the 24 month 0% then the monthly payments would have been smaller than if you had IUP this leaving you with the bigger remaining balance.

Regarding AppleCare, I’d say yes you should get a refund ( you would have AC if you went down the IUP route or added it yourself to your 24 month loan last year. No idea if Apple will automatically refund it when you trade it but I’d call them to check it was done.

The Sierra blue looks a bit too feminine, I’ve always got the new colour pro max each year but I think I’ll stick with graphite this time.

Shopping for phone cases before 7am on a Wednesday. Crazy times! Not sure why so many clear cases have holes for lanyards as if I’m going to wear it round my neck!

Probably because you're getting a more expensive phone this time? I had a bit under £400 left on my loan which my 12 Pro Max will cover with the remaining balance paying off some of the phone and then I'm paying monthly for the rest, I don't have to pay any money myself.

Sorry that this is off topic but you actually get replies in this thread in about 30 seconds 😅

anyone noticed battery drain on iOS 14.8? No idea what happened here but last night it just absolutely lost it and also went from 95% to 94% battery health

Regarding the watch, underwhelming given the rumours of a redesign, but having a Series 4, the always on display has always attracted me, and even though the screen increase isn’t huge, it’s still better than nothing, so I think I’ll be upgrading when it eventually comes out

Regarding colours for the aluminium case, the website has a Midnight colour, which I’m not sure is same as space grey, or just a really dark blue? Thoughts?
Noticed the iPhone 13 cases also don’t have a Black colour, just Midnight again…
Series 7 Watch should have been a full redesign, even the battery is the same! I’m keeping my Series 5 for now.

13 case colours are a real tricky one this year. There is no dedicated proper black, white or or brown colour like Saddle Brown. That Midnight colour (I think) is like a dark space grey, close to black but looks grey. So must be the same for the Midnight aluminium watch case.

First world problems choosing 13 case colours this year!

For my 13 Pro Max I’m thinking Abyss Blue or Midnight silicone matches best with Sierra Blue. Blue Jay & Marigold silicone do match too but too light for my taste.

On the leathers, tempted with Sequoia Green leather as it’s a dark green/military look but on second view I think it’s a mis-match on the Sierra Blue. Golden Brown looks nice but, again, too light for me & I’ve already done California Poppy this year. Dark Cherry looks pretty decent. Wisteria matches blue but I personally can’t pull that off lol. Leaves just Midnight.

Apple, why the f**k can’t you just make the choice easier & include dedicated Black, White or Brown colours! They’ve really missed the colour target with no Saddle Brown leather!

Reckon I’m going silicone for now then high-end premium third party leather when available.

Are you on the upgrade program?

No...!

looks like you are on IUP rather than the 24 month loan?

reads like apple are doing a better deal in rather than taking the phone as collateral against your remaining balance, they are giving you a better value trade in price.

you'll still probably get more from MM or others than Apple..

I'm not on the iUP - I'm on Barclays Finance.

I think the reason for my confusion is that on iUP, when you hand back your old phone, it automatically pays off the existing balance of it and then when you select the new phone, a new iUP starts again.

This does not appear to happen with Barclays Finance - you hand back the phone to Apple and they just credit you with a sum of money which then goes towards paying off the current loan. If it does not cover the balance of the outstanding loan amount (as in my case) then that cost goes on to the new phone, hence why it says I'll be charged this at the checkout.

I think for this reason and due to the similarities of the 12 vs the 13, I will skip upgrading this year which will mean this time next year, my 12 will have been paid off in full with Barclays so will be in a better position to upgrade.

I’ve always gone Apple leather and loved them, never had a any chips or scratches etc when dropping it in them

went Apple silicone last year as the leathers came out a few weeks later for some reason, the silicone is really nice but I did notice the first few weeks with it, it’s like a dust magnet, then it’s good for a few months, and now the case is starting to peel on the corners (nothing major) and is getting a sort of greasy feel to it.

my plan this year is Silver 13pro with the Dark Cherry leather

Looks like you can “Get ready for pre-order” if you’re paying in full this year too! I’ve got both phones ready! Hopes it’s this slick and easy come Friday…View attachment 1831427

Thanks for the tip, didn’t know we could do this when paying in full. I just got my pre-order ready for an iPhone 13 Pro Max 512GB in Graphite.

I've never seen the point of the always on display of the newer watches (hence why I'm sticking with my S4) - if you're not looking at the screen, there is zero point in the screen being on........?!
