Hmm damn… I wonder why the delay for it?
I don’t know but the delay isn’t good for me as I feel the longer I wait the more I look at bands and I’ve just bought an extra one this morning for running 😂 got the orange alpine loop coming with the watch which will be good for walking.
Look at that delivery date though!

Does anyone set up their new iPhone from new or do you set up from backup? I usually set up from my old iPhone but like the idea of setting up from new. What do you guys do?

Always from new! Can do an app detox and clear off the crap I don’t use. I do always indent to put some thought around the layout and grouping of apps etc too.. but usually can’t be arsed after downloading them all

Series 8 should be shipping soon right? They’re Friday 16th same as iPhones. I reckon the ultras won’t change status until end of next week or after.

My s8 went to PFS yesterday though it’s due on 21st. Hoping it’s coming sooner!

Ordinarily, I would back up the current iPhone via Finder (not iCloud) and then restore that backup onto the new device. I'd been doing this from back on 6 until 13, but within a few weeks found the 13 lagging a lot. I wiped, set up as new and it was a totally different experience. I think now with so much living on the cloud and each app having its own cloud backup, I will be doing this going forward.

Likely more Regents Street than westfields?

Yeah regent street, Covent Garden and the wood day the Westfields.

If I was in the hunt for one on Friday that’s the order I’d go looking!

Maybe once they got on sale Friday, there’ll be a collect in store option

I was looking at the strap too. Did notice that for the new alpine straps it suggests it fits 44,45 and 49mm

But when you click onto one, it only shows the 49mm ultra

Anyone the wiser to what apple say about the new ultra straps fitting the smaller watches?

For me it's the pain of installing all the apps and putting them in order.
Wouldn't the new mechanism they have "Transfer iPhone" work well? I'm assuming it would only transfer what it needs instead of a full back up. I really don't know how it works though.

Dear diary,

I attempted to see daylight today and went for a walk to take my mind off things. However, I could only think “what if I get lost? I don’t have my iPhone 14 yet to send any satellite SOS.”

I quickly turned back to go home and continued to pass time in any way possible.

Maybe tomorrow will be easier?

Riiiiight. My on hold order is now processing. PHEW!

Regent street here I come!

I’ve bought a caseology case from Amazon. Was using it on my 13 Pro and really liked it. Silicone but not sticky. So I am ready!

Thank heavens it’s date night tonight so I can just fill hubby in about his new iPhone arriving on Friday. Free bubbles voucher because it was my birthday recently. No cooking and no washing up. Get in!
Free bubbles?? Where are you going??

I think the new ultra bands work with the larger of the regular watches, so backwards compatible.
Marques says in this that he tried an ultra band on a regular watch and it worked fine.

I’ll be setting up from new too. I did it last year and it was great! It also meant apps like WhatsApp etc don’t come pre-loaded with their cache that builds up over time! So many apps just accumulate that you barely use - so I download the keys ones (WhatsApp, Reddit, banking apps etc.) and download the others as the ‘need’ to use them arrives. This can be awkward at times but a trade off worth making. It also allowed me to really play around with the widgets and focus modes.
