I was looking at the strap too. Did notice that for the new alpine straps it suggests it fits 44,45 and 49mm

But when you click onto one, it only shows the 49mm ultra

Anyone the wiser to what apple say about the new ultra straps fitting the smaller watches?
I have the green version of this strap arriving with my Ultra watch, I wonder how secure the G-Hook fastener is compared to the other options...can't wait to find out.

For me it's the pain of installing all the apps and putting them in order.
Wouldn't the new mechanism they have "Transfer iPhone" work well? I'm assuming it would only transfer what it needs instead of a full back up. I really don't know how it works though.

I tried the "Transfer iPhone" back on the first iteration (I think it was 12?) and I either did something wrong, or it screwed me over. Plus, it took forever! I lost quite a lot of pics/vids on WhatsApp. I've never been able to get those back. Just says they're not available because they weren't backed up or something.

Here's my plan this year: I will do a local archived backup on Finder, an iCloud backup, and then an iCloud backup of each important app that supports doing so (WhatsApp etc.). I will then start afresh and restore each app's own backup.

I only use Monzo for banking and have two backup credit cards - all three support adding into the Wallet via their app without needing to call etc. I have passwords for apps in Keychain.

I’ll be setting up from new too. I did it last year and it was great! It also meant apps like WhatsApp etc don’t come pre-loaded with their cache that builds up over time! So many apps just accumulate that you barely use - so I download the keys ones (WhatsApp, Reddit, banking apps etc.) and download the others as the ‘need’ to use them arrives. This can be awkward at times but a trade off worth making. It also allowed me to really play around with the widgets and focus modes.

Likewise, will have my go to apps (finance, social, car, shopping, iot etc) then the rest when I remember.

I think the new ultra bands work with the larger of the regular watches, so backwards compatible.
Marques says in this that he tried an ultra band on a regular watch and it worked fine.

Just assumed the larger strap would have been wider. One to look at in store I think.

I’ll prob pick up a nike band to supplement the leather link

Anyone ordered their phone from Amazon before? The configuration I want is "available" but says "This item will be released on September 16, 2022." and when you add it to basket and go to checkout it says "Order now and we'll notify you via e-mail when we have an estimated delivery date for this item."

Anyone got experience from previous years, does this mean it likely comes on or near launch day?

Anyone like to share an image of their Umber Leather Case? Just wondering about the colour in real light!
I've got one ordered to collect along with the Umber MagSafe Wallet and my iPhone 14 Pro on Friday...

I used the Transfer iPhone option last year and it went without a hitch. Worked well for Microsoft Authenticator as I need that for work. I don’t use WhatsApp so I can’t comment on that.

In previous years I used the iCloud backup method. I found that very slow. Got faster internet at home now so it may not be such a pain.

I tend to set up as a new phone only as a last resort. That option takes a bit of work to set everything back the way I like it. I’m just to lazy for that.

This might be a daft question but what do you do to set up from new? It usually asks you to hold your old iPhone close and then it transfers everything (I do as I'm told!). Is there a "set up as new" option?

Will be dispatched on Friday, and most likely you’ll get in on Saturday.

Ordered from Amazon 2 years ago when they messed the prices and we got iPhones £250 cheaper

Not a new option, just boot up new phone and don’t restore from back up
