This forum is going to pickup even more traction tomorrow, then on Friday through the roof. Late Friday will be all about how are people restoring and why is it so slow (it's reindexing!!!)

Oh, you forgot to mention after Friday the posts about whatever the new phone drama is. This forum gave me anxiety that my iPad air would be flimsy and bend from just using it, spoiler: it doesn't.

It's sometimes better to not check once you actually have the device or you'll just feel like it's going to bend, turn yellow, go on fire, etc

I think for the first time since the original iPhone, I'll be setting up as new. I'll be taking a backup and storing it locally just in case I want to use it
Yep I do iCloud backup and an iMazing Backup. But the transfer process has got so simple just putting the phones side by side and letting it do its magic you don't even need a backup! I did it a few weeks ago to the iphone 13 burner I have (work phone) from my iphone 13 Pro Max. all transferred in an hour.

Think you mean just blowing on it.... who said you have to touch it for it to bend.....!!!!

I agree, within a day of having a new device - especially the phone - I think the excitement wears off, it's the forum that keeps the energy alive.

If I think (due to work) I might miss my pickup time, am I right in thinking it's better to go later than my slot rather than earlier?
Absolutely. You will be turned away if early, fast tracked if a little late (iirc)

Apple’s been ramping up the amount of noise reduction and sharpening it does over the years, and the 14 Pro has the most aggressive sharpening and noise reduction yet. Sometimes it just looks bad: this night skyline shot is an overprocessed mess compared to the Pixel.

This was from The Verge... and I agree some of the picture do look weird, but can't wait to try in person

It's not just better, it would just be a waste of time going ealier!!! You won't get it any earlier than your checkin time.

I think I got my 13PM between 14:00-15:00 last year which felt like FOREVER when I was on this thread seeing others get it early in the morning. I am hoping to be part of Team DPD this year!

I did that going from the 13 to the 12; the iCloud restore in total took 3 days. Now imagine with the load of everyone trying at the same time

Thats partly why I use iMazing, my backup is on my local Mac and I can just connect new phone and hit restore, restore is over USBC.

iMazing is great and works like Time Machine where it can backup wirelessly through the day so you get snapshots. I only have mine backing up all iDevices through the night.

Got a Purple Pro 512 GB for pickup on Friday morning at 9am. The leather case just arrived today and *wow* is the camera bump insanely large compared to the 12 Pro I currently use... might take some getting used to.

So far most reviews on YouTube are just repeating the specs, not much real world usage. MrWhoIsTheBoss did an S22 comparison and the 14 Pro kills it against the Samsung.

I also had to resort to doing a 2nd Barclays application, already received acknowledgement from them that the original has been 'torn up' as the pre order wasn't completed.

Interesting re the 5 split payments, though this is still over 5 times what the BPF monthlies will be. I just stuck mine on my Amazon credit card, so reluctant to go through with it long-term if it can be returned when the Apple order arrives. Looks to me like Amazon's reurn policy is 30 days, can't see any mention of exceptions for mobile phones, nor for whether the 30 days is voided by opening/activating the phone.
Just read your response to my post.

Yes, my Apple order is with the 2nd Barclays application too - the pre-order one got "cancelled" on Monday or whenever the offer expired.

In terms of my plan, I'll basically cancel whichever one doesn't come first. Apple says 3rd October, Amazon says, well who knows, but if my Amazon one arrives before the Apple one starts making progress, I'll cancel the Apple one.

I don't expect Amazon's 30 day policy is the same as buying straight from Apple where you can basically try the product out for free and return for any reason you want, so if you get the Amazon one first, I'd suggest keeping that?

And if it's the case that your only way to fund it is really with the Barclays finance, then I guess you just need to wait for Apple. Hopefully 3rd October is pessimistic by a week or so.
