What model are you getting?

You know on the silver, is the stainless band so reflective if you held it in front of your face you'd be able to see your face in it? Are they that mirror-like or is it more like the other colours where they're reflective but not mirror-esque? Curious!
It’s not a perfect mirror finish, but you can definitely see yourself in it!

I received one of them spam texts this morning - "Sammy from EVRI tried to deliver your parcel today without success. Click on this link to re-arrange a new delivery".

For a minute there, I thought it was delivery of my non existent iPhone 14 Pro order!!!!

:p

Ok. I know you should never EVER believe the web chat, especially from EE.

But right now I will take whatever I can get:

I should say, by the way, that I ordered on Saturday...at 7pm...on a model that was already not available for launch day (by a long shot), so. I mean. I would not be surprised AT ALL if this is rubbish, and that I end up waiting until late October.

Although if I do get the phone tomorrow, and you ordered on Friday at 1pm and don't get it, feel free to use my example to rage at EE customer service.

I think we’re all aware we are (presumably) grown adults that are throwing tantrums over phones, when let’s face it, we all have/had a very capable phone prior to this. It’s exciting for us.

Am I personally going to be calling customer services? No. Am I going to shame those that do? Also no. Am I going to be posting ridiculous, over the top, in jest posts on here in the meantime? Damn right I am.

Just received this beauty… ☺️
Your local CEX branches must be really strict!
I get A grade all the time on my stuff. Sold a MacBook Air 2018 as A grade very recently, sold some 2 year old Bose headphones as A grade last year, sold a Kindle as A grade etc earlier this year.

I am on good terms with my local branch and they always look forward to my stuff when testing etc.

When I traded in my iPhone X to update to the 11 Pro, my local CEX graded my pristine phone as B due to ‘the missing SIM ejection tool’. When I pointed out the tool was still in the tab in the paperwork, never used, they refused to grade as anything other than a B.

Happily traded in other electronics (S3 watch earlier this year which was definitely B grade, Sonos speakers etc) but the experience with the X lead me to the iPhone Upgrade Program which I’ve been on ever since. Prefer the quibble free, hassle free experience of it all.

The guys in the local CEX are a top bunch otherwise, and I’ve happily bought from them for years, including game consoles etc.

It's all fun.

I used to work at an Apple Store and I remember the iPhone 5 launch - there was a queue literally a mile long from the store, all the way through the shopping centre and snaking round outside it. We all went out in our blue Apple t-shirts past the crowd clapping in the freezing cold before the sun had risen to greet everyone.

We started at 5am and finished late at night, they gave us unlimited Dominos pizza in the break room. The atmosphere was crazy and everyone was so exhausted but it was such a memory.

Only ever did the iPhone 4 early morning queue at Apple Trafford Centre way back when (as a customer). The store supplied Kristy Kreme coffee & donuts an hour or so before opening, then the staff ran the length of the line high giving everyone when the store opened at 8am. This was before scalping got serious, so the line was full of Apple geeks enthusing and chatting. Always wondered what the staff experience was, essentially dealing with the Malibu Stacey levels of customer traffic throughout the day. Good to know they treated you relatively well for your efforts.

Ah, memories. Yeah we had to do the high fives and clapping even before the store opened for iPhone 5, people had been queuing since the night before - insane when you think of it now, but I guess it's all online these days. The hype was electric.

They treated us really well, it was full on (even on non-launch days) but I loved the job. I think Apple Retail has changed a lot since I left though, think it's a bit more serious and not as fun - but I may be wrong. I remember the day Steve Jobs died coming into work and we had an email from Cupertino about it at work and everyone was super sad.

I even had my own @apple.com work email address as an employee but obviously not since I've left. Ah, I feel soooo nostalgic now between this and using a 5S burner!

Ok then have a beautiful morning gents and ladies.

Off to grind my beans in my Gaggia Syncrony and do some work.

Speak soon.

Oooh matron
I bought my first bean to cup last Christmas and that's been the best thing I've bought in years! turned into such a coffee snob now!

We’ve had a delonghi bean to cup for a few years and love it! Experimented with loads of beans but actually settled on standard lavazza ones as our favourites!

Love taking a flat white to work in the morning though

Just spoken to a helpful chap at EE. He informs me that there are delays on the Watch 41mm, but my other two orders have been dispatched.

Most people in here are either buying through EE or non-contract!!!

There are a few Sky and Three purchases. Cheapest is outright and sim only deal. I’m using Voxi.
Guessing people have discount on EE? £64 for 5gb data is super expensive

PSA : DO NOT UPGRADE TO iOS 16.1 BETA 1, AS SOFTWARE UPDATE IS CURRENTLY BROKEN. I’ve been running the betas on my iPad and since updating to the latest beta yesterday, checking for updates doesn’t work with many people reporting the same thing. It maybe a server side error but it might not. Play it safe and DON’T especially not when you get your iPhone 14s.

Oh yeah, that reminds me of the time I queued up for either the 4 or 5S at the Arndale, I can't remember which it was. I was pretty close to the front of the queue, about sixth. I was the first customer to leave the store with a new phone. I was the poor sod who got the big cheer and was expected to hold up my newly acquired purchase to the amassed throng.

Well I've never been one for attention. I think I disappointed the crowd when I pulled up my hood, lowered my head and sat off at a pace, back to the car park.

WOW - Music Magpie's price for the iPhone 13 Pro 128Gb has dropped like a stone right down to £525!!!
o_O
I still need to send off my 128GB iPhone 13 mini, I got a locked in price of £410 haha. I managed to get this price on 9 Sep.

Waiting for my 14 Pro to arrive tomorrow, then off goes the mini in the post.

So who’s getting their iPhone 14’s on launch day with EE then??

My partners plan switched today so he’s getting his iPhone tomorrow, mine still stuck on old plan so no launch day unboxing for me 😔
