It's a shame how soulless Apple Stores seem to be these days.

When I worked at one about 10 years ago the launch days were so fun, we'd be high fiving the people in the queue and giving them donuts and pastries. We'd never turn anyone away - you might have to wait, but if we could get you a phone we would.

All very 'Computer says no' nowadays, it's a shame.
I think covid put an end to all that. Even now some things have not reverted back to how they used to be.

Is this Trafford? Easily becoming one of my least favourite stores to go into lately!

Yep. No tensar barriers or anything. It was in the paper that there would be no excited due to the Queen.

Loads of people complaining as they were told yesterday they could walk in and now being told they can’t. They have to order on app and book a slot.

So I’ve arrived. The guy has said definitely no walk ins and the reason you can’t get anything for collection today is because all slots are all fully booked whether they have the stock or not. However they do have the watch band I’m after!!!

What are you drinking?

I love Trafford at early hours.

Nope it's not covid (though that can't have helped). For years before it was like this - when Angela Ahrendts took over I think it became more soulless in general. Changes to Genius Bar, harder to just walk in and chat to someone, launch day changes.

I think tbh as soon as I left working for the Apple Store it went downhill personally 😂😉 Kidding, but in seriousness I think it was around 2014 things started to nosedive.

Finally arrived in my local depot. Now just waiting for a 1 hr slot.

I don’t get why staff get away with telling people that. Ultimately you can’t tell them to come back today and then backtrack on your word from yesterday. Really annoys me when they do this!

Currys now listing the pro max models and saying delivery for tomorrow.

I dont know whether to just go with them or wait for JL to go live o_O

Wondering how my guardian angel @Jackmw14 is doing, whether he has his slot, if so if it clashes with his morning meeting, how he's feeling about the moment of truth for my silver arriving in ~4-5 hours... 🥺🙏🏼

Sometimes you’d walk in and wait ages to be able to speak to someone as they were always busy, so maybe the changes were made so provide a better experience, so booked slots and no waiting around. Thought I admit the Apple Store experience has changed over time and walking in to have a look around doesn’t feel as comfortable as it used to be.

Were the customers actually told that? I work in retail and the amount of times someone has said ‘ I was told… blah blah blah’ when they never were, or not by someone who works for the company.

Cripes. My iPhone is going to my old flat (50mins~1hr away), and I am free from now until 11 when I have a remote meeting. If I get, say, a 9:45 slot now, I can head over there and get the phone and then have time to get back. Still no DPD one hour slut though!
