What model are you getting?

I see we didn't get the nice braided cables this year. Did we get them last year? If not, where did I get a braided USB-C to lightning cable from? I've definitely got one and I didn't purchase it separately at any point.

I only use screen protectors as in the past when I’ve kept an iPhone for a few years the oleophobic coating has worn off and the display ended up being a smeared mess all the time unless I kept cleaning it every 5 minutes.
Only reason I use one is to preserve resale value. I know I’ll upgrade yearly so wanna make sure I get as much as I can

My EE esim to esim transfer completed in a few minutes for me.

  1. You will need to order a replacement sim on your old phone (via the website).
  2. Scan the QR code with the new phone.
  3. Then activate the esim with the old phone (using the one-time code they send to you). Yes, I did see an error, however, the new phone was activated at the same time as the activation process/error.
  4. Anyway, tested it by using my wife's phone to call my number and it went straight to the new phone.

unfortunately no joy in that respect

im going to download the mini ios16 update and restart both and try again 🤞

Question for those on EE with an Apple Music smart benefit - do you have to wait until your current AM subscription fully expires before it will activate the smart benefit? I’m on a trial with Apple Music until November, so presumably I have to wait until then to use the smart benefit?

Yay! Yodel came early today, so happy, installing the update then doing a transfer.

Still having no end of issues transferring, even restored an older backup so I am thinking this more a 16.1 beta issue.

If it fails to transfer, just complete the restore from backup, and then it will prompt you to add a data plan, this then should allow you to transfer it across. That's what happened to me.

Interestingly the screen is very yellow with True Tone on, without it, its a perfect. Usually i'd always have True Tone on!

Mine arrived about an hour ago, loving the space black! Currently awaiting the restore to finish - it's taking absolutely forever. Regret not going for device-to-device transfer as I'm guessing Apple's servers are getting hammered 😴

Back from Trafford Centre with iPP 14 restoring from iCloud. Easiest iUP upgrade yet.

Apple Store TC had zero queues outside, which surprised me, not even any roped off areas to suggest that might even have been expecting any. Store itself was as busy as I’ve ever seen it, with plenty of staff around. Waited a couple of mins after checking in after my 11:30 reservation time, then got going on the iUP process. Two staff dealt with me, one taking the other through his first iUP transaction. Upgraded the included AC+ to loss & theft, and also added on the first party umber leather case. The case itself is lovely, so much more attractive than the almost orange golden brown from last year, and agreeably darker than the former saddle brown leather cases.

Then off to the setup table; haven’t done in-store setup since the iPad 3. Great to have started off the SIM transfer & iCloud restore as it meant I could finish up the podcast I’d done on the drive in for the drive back. Old phone wiped and handed back. Picked up some Hotel C for wife & son then back home.

For all of the complaints about how the Apple Stores have changed (and they have) over the years, this year’s launch day upgrade could not have gone any faster or smoother. Almost zero queueing (no need for the store to hand out bottles of water to over heated queue customers), staff on top of their game and a fantastic in-store experience overall.

If any Trafford Centre store happen to read this; you nailed it!

As for the phone? Pretty much the 13 pro experience already but for Dynamic Island which I already love. Tap and hold to expand for music playback controls pretty much restores the classic iPod experience as much as possible wihout deprecating the rest of the lock/Home Screen experience. Samsung, start your photocopiers 😁

News here for people that pre ordered on Amazon, I was chatting with the Cs and obviously was still having the same answers as everyone here. Then suddenly the assistant told me "wait, your order just got updated at the moment, it seems it will be delivered on the 20th".
So yes, it finally got updated there for me, after a week... They really managed this badly this year, last time I pre order on Amazon

Opted for device to device transfer rather than the backup on the mac. Started off at 2 hours time left and was gong to abort, within 2 mins went down to 35...gong to leave it now as that will be a nice surprise after my meeting. It did ask about the eSIM and said EE requires more info after the device transfer...

EDIT: Not to start a 'gate', but side by did with my 12 pro the screen does look yellow..... (obv no photos as no phones left to take them with)
