If it fails to transfer, just complete the restore from backup, and then it will prompt you to add a data plan, this then should allow you to transfer it across. That's what happened to me.
unfortunately that was the way i did it on my first attempt and did not transfer hence moving to request a code from EE.

It just hangs on "connecting to network"

or if trying to transfer "cannot transfer due to account being ineligible"

Well my MM SmartDrop Kiosk experience was… a fail. Went to two separate ASDA stores with them and BOTH were broken. 🙄

Back from Trafford Centre with iPP 14 restoring from iCloud. Easiest iUP upgrade yet.

Apple Store TC had zero queues outside, which surprised me, not even any roped off areas to suggest that might even have been expecting any. Store itself was as busy as I’ve ever seen it, with plenty of staff around. Waited a couple of mins after checking in after my 11:30 reservation time, then got going on the iUP process. Two staff dealt with me, one taking the other through his first iUP transaction. Upgraded the included AC+ to loss & theft, and also added on the first party umber leather case. The case itself is lovely, so much more attractive than the almost orange golden brown from last year, and agreeably darker than the former saddle brown leather cases.

Then off to the setup table; haven’t done in-store setup since the iPad 3. Great to have started off the SIM transfer & iCloud restore as it meant I could finish up the podcast I’d done on the drive in for the drive back. Old phone wiped and handed back. Picked up some Hotel C for wife & son then back home.

For all of the complaints about how the Apple Stores have changed (and they have) over the years, this year’s launch day upgrade could not have gone any faster or smoother. Almost zero queueing (no need for the store to hand out bottles of water to over heated queue customers), staff on top of their game and a fantastic in-store experience overall.

If any Trafford Centre store happen to read this; you nailed it!

As for the phone? Pretty much the 13 pro experience already but for Dynamic Island which I already love. Tap and hold to expand for music playback controls pretty much restores the classic iPod experience as much as possible wihout deprecating the rest of the lock/Home Screen experience. Samsung, start your photocopiers 😁

I want to order on iUP and pay in full, I have heard that being possible before.

I seem unable to setup mobile data, so I'll have to download the EE app and reissue the eSIM
I went from esim to esim. I did not even touch the EE app.

You will need to login via the website on your old phone, order a replacement esim and go from there.

EDIT: Done. Though with hindsight not the best idea to do by turning off bluetooth on the mac in the middle of a meeting. as I had no means to turn it on again. Should have just turned off the keyboard but I am sleep deprived from tracking my phone....

Would you not be as well with a straight forward 6am reservation? And can’t see the stores minding you changing how you want to pay; I bought my 6s on launch day outright, then had buyers remorse and wanted to go on contract - went back in to the Apple Store TC the following day and they happily checked it he phone back in then sold it to me again under the different terms.
 
not this year but have done in the past no issues
May do that tomorrow so then I can return the Max which they should put on a gift card to be able to pay for the new one. May spend extra £10 than I have on this one and get 256MB

Yeah but I don;t have the funds to pay online for it and this phone was purchased using gift cards so the money would go back to Apple balance instead of money in bank.

Oh no! I just posted not too long ago trying to understand the best option. So what happens now, can you send it to MM using their postage or do you lose that option once you opt for Smart Kiosk?

You can still post, just take the same QR code to the post office.

I will get one of those when the price drops next year I got the 12 pro April this year still got 100% battery only thing I dislike is how the gold edges mark so easily but putting into a case I’ve got a ESR clear one on mine

Btw hope your wife enjoyed her phone and enjoy your new one please take some pics with it wanna see how well that camera performs before I get it in 2024 lol 😝
