Late to the party but just placed an order for a iPhone 14 Pro Max 256GB in Space Black and happily approved for the 24 month 0% :) (I was paranoid having read some of the reviews of the Barclays Finance despite having a decent credit file, but has gone straight through no issues whatsoever!)

Delivers 26 Oct - 2 Nov apparently, I don't mind waiting at all but is there a chance that date might be 'brought forward'? Also when does the first payment get taken by Barclays, will it be (roughly) 30 days from my order or 30 days from the actual delivery date of the phone?

For the first time ever I've also decided to chuck AppleCare on top!

I’ve seen mention of the Halide app

Last night I did proper research of proraw. I thought it was a stripper out apple file type that they ‘invented’ but it’s actually super powerful. Didn’t really look into it on my 12 pro for some reason.

Anyway. The one built app can shoot raw but I prefer using third party apps for more granular control. I also use lightroom
Mobile for editing on the phone (but don’t usually do ‘work’ on mobile apps. Only my laptop.

I’d shoot using the native app and play around with proraw. The images coming out of it are great but you will need to tinker.

The best advice is to practice all the time. You’ll learn by trying and doing.

Halide actually can save a processed jpeg as well as the raw file so if you’re worried then that’s an option and you’ll have the Joel to fall back on.

Be wary. These raw files at 48mp will soon eat up space.

Another pro max shot. This really is blowing my mind- even with the caveats of small sensor limitations.

Oh my god. These shots are amazing. Credit no doubt to the awesome photographer behind, and the model in front of, the camera!

Is there anywhere you’d point an absolute novice in photography looking to get the most out of his phone camera? Any advice is appreciated!

Just to say these aren’t in a studio. I snapped them at the photography show in bham whilst walking round.

Any chance you could share unedited vs edited for a shot? Be interesting to see what the out of camera RAW looked like.

Thanks for sharing this advice. Looks like my choice to go for a 128gb may backfire - I’ll have to increase my iCloud storage from 50gb to 200gb for this year.

You’re more likely to find store stock before that delivery date. Worth checking online (stock usually updated from 6am - but no guarantee that it would be every day).

You could reserve and collect (can do the finance in store too - but consider the impact of searches etc if worried about that)

You can always return and get a bigger capacity.
Oh I won’t be doing that. Upgrading my iCloud storage is going to cost me £20 for the year, from the 50gb plan I’m currently paying for. It’s actually half that as I pay for 50gb for my wife too. So £10 for the whole year vs. £110 for the extra storage - I’ll be quids in for a whole year lol.

Wow did not plan to those maths tonight 😂

My contract was taken out in 2020, so I’m also not affected by the roaming charges

I just contacted them and as I’m on the unlimited package, there is no cap on the speeds

Thankfully

Yes I took out my contract in October 2020 so I’m also not affected by the roaming charges. I did measure the 5G as I was on my home earlier and I was getting over 100Mbs.

With proraw it doesn’t really work like that.
Out of the camera proraw is sort of what in camera JPEG would look like

But you can’t shoot ProRaw on a 128gb model?
