Do t ever remember my series 3 being that thick!

Wow. I thought the ultra was a lot thicker than that...

I have to say I thought the Ultra would be too big for my wrist but it seems fine to me. I’m happy with it and it’s a big jump from my Series 5. It does remain to be seen how it works when wearing a long sleeve shirt. I’ll find out tomorrow.

I'm still tempted by the Ultra coming from a S5. I'm thinking it'll be a huge upgrade

Good to see your feedback on this! The photos I’ve seen show that it’s definitely outside the cuff

I’m happy to have upgraded from the Series 5 to the Ultra. I skipped the Series 6 and Series 7 as they were just small incremental updates. The Ultra being a brand new design and having features the regular Apple Watches don’t have made it worthwhile to me. I just need to try and get the strap sorted out if I can.

I think if I can find one at an Apple store I'll pick one up. I can always return within 14 days if I hate it

I don’t really try to justify it anymore.

I work hard, I like new toys, I like Apple products.

I don’t drink, I don’t smoke (what do I do?) and I’m of the age now (54) where we’ve paid off our mortgage and I work to live now, so if I want a new toy, I’ll buy one.

Gadgets & tech are my thing.

They give me pleasure and I enjoy playing with them and getting involved with like minded nerds in the annual pilgrimage that is @Jinjin ’s pre order thread.

So there! 🥸
This is exactly like myself except I'm 58 and do like a drink or 2.. OK, 3 then!

I've got a £50 Apple gift card to give away.

I was going to run a little comp within this thread for the England football game tomorrow. Whoever gets the minute of the first goal correct (or closest to) will win it.

I'm not sure if that is against site rules? if anyone could confirm :)
I'll go with 10 minutes.

So no October event and releases via press release it seems. No Mac Pro then I guess!

Same form factor iPads with an m2 upgrade. Might be a good opportunity to pick up a current gen if they drop in price after the new ones drop.

Question: What will be the time of the first goal scored tomorrow between England vs Germany.

If we have someone say 16th minute and 18th minute BUT the goal is scored in the 17th minute. We'll find a way of doing a tie break.

No minimum entries. Will be a winner guarnteed. Good luck :)

Quick edit: if two people say the same minute, it will be the person who said it first who wins. So worth checking other entries :)

37th please!

I recently moved to EE from Three after being with them for a long time. I didn't really have any issues, but I wanted a better 5G experience, and EE have a much better network around Newcastle, and my 5G speeds are amazing.

Upon Tyne or under Lyme?

I went the other way earlier this year as I was finding EE to be in fewer places than expected around Tyneside and mostly not as fast as expected either.

On Three I'm finding 5G in a lot more places and my fastest speed on Three has been almost double my fastest on EE (750Mbps vs 1320Mbps).

I pre-ordered from Amazon UK.

They had a hold on from order date which became a charge after the dispatch email.

Hope that helps.

NB. Amazon were shocking, I didn’t cancel as I had a significant gift card balance to use! Initially I ordered thinking I will receive on release day but only got it yesterday!
They've charged me on Sept 21, I did order Sept 16. Still, no dispatch email and generic delivery date 5 Oct - 2 Nov. I had a gift card as well, I could have bought an Apple gift card, but got attracted by the 5 Oct delivery, considering Apple online showed 25 Oct and stock in stores is almost impossible to find.

Still wonder what they do with all these returns.

Do they become brown box phones for replacements? Or refurbs.

Maybe both.

So we actually do them a favour!!!

I suppose there is nothing stopping them flashing the serial and reboxing as new maybe not in this country where that would t be allowed but no reason in places like India.

If the become refurbs they also get new serials if I remember right or they at least get a new model number to identify as refurb.

I have seen a fair bit of chat about EE being pricey to renew on SIM only? Try this.

Text PAC to 65075 to request your PAC code. A couple hours later you’ll get a call from the retentions team who will sort you out.

I did this, not knowing. I wanted to pay around £10 a month, the sales line couldn’t do any better than 10gb for £10. Other networks can offer better. Retentions called me, stuck me and my wife on 30gb for £12 a month.

That's a good plan. As soon as I'm into my last month, I'll be requesting my PAC anyway.

Ironically, my first job as a graduate engineer at Orange was testing number portability. Would love to know if they still use the same approach or if things have moved on since then.
