Does anyone have any experience buying apple products from Amazon when they actually have stock (I’ve read about the iphone launch day disasters!)? Tempted with the AW Ultra and the idea of the 5 monthly payments. Do Amazon always ship properly new and unopened items? Is their return policy similar to apples?

100% they are different, the only ones that maybe the same are Reserver for Pickup / Store Stock Pay Online and collect. iUP is different stock. And yes you can see it changing constantly throughout the day.
On Friday i was after a 128GB PM DP, on store stock it showed 256GB available in SB and DP, iUP showed nothing, the store stock disappear and iUP then showed the 128GB PM DP that I was after. They are absolutely different stock and we have no idea what governs it.
The reserve for collect doesn't appear to get as many hits as the other 2
Bought Apple Airpods close to launch, they were in stock and it was all fine (fully sealed).
But wish me luck with my 14PM preorder…..shipping window 5 Oct - 3 Nov….got charged by no dispatch date so far.
iUP and stock checker, which model and store you after? In the app can specify model and locality.
I am seeing if I can set up a Virtual Mac that you can log into to check stock.
No, it just tracks pickup. We aren't sure where reserve fits in and which stock it comes from. iUP is easy enough to track in the Apple Store App.

I didn't find this easy to do, I managed to find mine through using the reserve apple site that we've all been using but finding that that wasn't allowing me to proceed so I then went onto the app and managed to get it that way but... I had to pay upfront and collect in store. To me it seems that Apple are prioritising who pays up front rather than the reservations site now
Just buying outright, its the costly way to do it but it seems the fastest, the first PM I got was through reservations so I didn't pay anything but paid fully in store, the second time I couldn't get through doing it that way so I gave up and just paid outright online and picked up same day in store.
Makes no different to the store, they accept payment in any way you want to pay when you turn up. All 3 of mine have been through iUP so I didn't have to pay upfront.
Ah, shame after all the effort you went to getting it! If you have AC+ ask for an express replacement, if not I’d return and re-buy as suggested above.
Annoyingly it seems my only options as they are always so out of stock... i'm just worried I may pass my 14 days. (Dont have apple care)
If the camera is faulty they have to, point of sale has to offer a replacement or refund if and item is faulty within the first 30 days under the Consumer Rights law, as you have the right to reject it under those circumstances.
