Thank you both and one more check when using third party apps does the camera make a loud pop noise along with huge jumps on the screen when moving / focusing?
(Trying to rule out what is normal and not)
Mine does this in all 3rd party apps that use a camera. Apple support unhelpful. Opening the camera app first then opening Instagram stops it happening? I’m waiting for a software fix.

I really kinda want a MagSafe wallet, but I don’t carry a wallet now, so not sure I’d carry one attached to my phone!

I use Apple Pay for everything personal & business.

I’m a chauffeur and carry a physical bank card in my car just in case, but otherwise my AirTag wallet lives at home in my bedside cabinet.

Instagram makes noises and takes a while to focus. Defo a bug still.

Thanks to all those who replied and tested, I spoke to apple on the phone this time that way they are UK based to see what they thought. They still think it is definitely worth replacing but trying to replace is the only issue as they get daily stock but I just need to keep checking as before, no problem. She also clarified that under faulty goods I actually have 1 year under warranty to get this swapped out.

She offered an express replacement via apple online as that’s how I purchased it which would take 1-2 weeks but that leaves me without a phone (sold my old one too so wouldn’t have a phone) but nice to know.

I bought a MagSafe wallet this year and I love it. Like you I use ApplePay normally but carry ID, a credit card and a debit card in the wallet (in case) and I find it perfect.

Yeah that’s why I didn’t change mine. Native camera app works fine. It’s just the IG camera.
I wouldn’t mind so much if I knew for sure it would get fixed ie insta, but because it’s also like this on my stock camera app that is also very jittery I’m wary

Can someone actually just test for me real quick, launch the stock camera app the very top and bottom greyed out bits does the camera stay stable there or not
Mine does this (jitters slightly) as well, it's only noticeable on the 2x view though (the one using the centre 12MP of the 48MP main sensor) and I think I wouldn't have noticed it if I wasn't specifically looking for it. They are generating the "view outside the frame" portion either from one of the other lenses or from the whole 48MP sensor depending on mode then resizing it, doing a bit of perspective correction and tacking it on around the in-frame portion so I'm guessing it's a software issue and it's not lining the images up quite right. No noises here though, but I don't use IG.

If you have time I'd say go into your local store and look t the display ones before swapping, if they all do it then it's going to be software & will get fixed.

That's not what they usually mean by "express replacement": usually for that they ship you a new phone (putting temporary hold on your credit card for the value), you return the old one when you get the new one then when they get the old one back they release the hold on the card.

Mine does the shake on 2x too. Don’t use all those youngster instagram apps so it doesn’t bother me
Ahh I see, the way she explained it to me though was that I would be without a phone and she said okay she understands that’s not ideal and that the easiest way for me would be to go through my local store in this case.

Mine does it regardless zoom or standard
