I’ve always been intrigued by the likes of Eero etc. but not sure why the benefits would be for me? Why would one install a mesh system like that over just the standard router that has come from my broadband supplier? (VM if it matters)
I have been using Ubiquiti eco-system for a few years, and so much better, however, it is on the expensive side, but it is worth it, I love their dream machine, hotspot u6 & g4 cameras, and I am in full control with my own stuff, and I get tonnes more features and options than isp provided router, I have always set those up as modem, and used my own gear.

I have been thinking about doing a retrofit cat6e access to each room in my place, I just haven't figured out how without going through the walls.
You’ll need to pretty much I think. My plan is to have a look inside my walls with an endoscope. Then cut holes anywhere there is a horizontal batten to get access to drill through it. As long as you’re neat, you can stick the square of plasterboard you cut out back in place (blob of plaster and splat it onto the batten) and patch the cut marks.

Hmm, I saw that there is an outdoor cat6 cable, although I am dreading the look of that, seeing wiring outside my place. o_O

The idea you have suggested might also work, but I'll need somewhat a hard fish line + endoscope to pull the cables or something, this is something that will take time and a lot of headaches certainly, not to mention, the problem I have with my walls, is bricks and also the cavities full of insulation. 😡😱

My wall cavities are filled too. But there should be a gap between the plasterboard and the bricks. I know there should be a route from my living room where the internet comes in and the attic, because there’s a TV aerial point there and the aerial is in the attic. Once I’m in the attic, it should be simpler (I hope).

Please for the love of it, do not join VM, I have finally left them after 10yrs (as they were the only ones offering high-speed DL, but **** a$$ upload) I recently switch to CommunityFiber 3Gbs, and it's great, even their customer service is much more respectful and tech-savvy.

Stay as you are and wait for FTTP to start in your area.

Don’t worry I did look at VM and did some research but have decided against it. I’ve decided to stick with the standard fibre I have right now and wait for one of these other providers to offer FTTP at some point. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

An excellent and wise decision, that comment goes for others too, if you have FTTP in your area and other ISP options, stick to them and avoid VM in general.

To be fair, I have been with Virgin Media Broadband for 7 months now. I have the 500Mbps package. I use their hub in modem mode and have an Amplifi HD mesh system to do the NAT, DHCP and WiFi. All the VM router does is feed the broadband into my house. So far I haven't had a single outage, not a blip and I regularly check my speed and it is always above what I was promised. I've just this minute done a test and this is what I see:

I still remember paying for 100Mbps from VM and receiving about 50Kbps (not a typo) in the evenings. And receiving a warning on their forums when I pointed out it was worse during university term time.

That killed any interest in me being a customer.

I‘ve not got a bad word for Virgin Media either, not had any problems in years and their Gig1 broadband does a great job.

I remember a couple of years ago, VM had a BW limit during the day, I think it was between between 12 am to 9 pm, and this applied to all customers for over a year, then BT removed its BW limit and copied, I was so annoyed about that, and I was on their top tier package 300Mbps?

I am glad some of you have not had any issues, I had to call VM almost every 2~3months with speed and disconnection issues for the last 3yrs, even at some point I was disconnected for 4days and they didn't even apologise about it, and they knew they had an issue, even after the engineer visit, their routers will die on me, and replaced few times, no compensation or anything.

For me when FTTP started rolling in my area, it was time to switch and move from them.

It was back in about 2012 or so that I was a customer. It started off OK and I was getting full speeds, then it all went very downhill.

OMG, I just realized that I have(had) been with VM for well over 15yrs (my final bill is on Monday), how time flies, anyway... don't get me wrong, after that BW limit fiasco, everything was great, until 2016, just went downhill for me, endless issues and disconnections etc., just couldn't leave, as no one was offering high-speed as them with decent enough price and just had to live with it.

I was on an exchange only line, so no chance of anything better than the 4Mbps Openreach were able to offer, other than VM.
If I remember correctly, VM did use BT/Openreach lines in some areas, I don't know if they still do that, also with VM switching to FTTP and phasing out DOCSIS 3.1 (2028?), they'll better have better prices as other competitors, the likes of CF/G.Network... with their symmetric high-speed BB.

Also, CF & G.Network are aggressively building their network in London and fast, they are really pushing FTTP and aggressively pricing their contract to be more affordable, which is very good, with more options and more competition, other providers will have to play along with their pricing.

So, I am returning my Apple Watch Ultra tomorrow, I just can't get used to the raw silver titanium colour, I'll go back to my SS AW7, and maybe next year Apple will release a black anodized version of it, I'll grab it again, aside from the colour dislike in my preference, the watch is/was fantastic, I love the extra button for my work out, screen-size and design.

EE prices have gone bonkers too. They are now charging Pro Max launch prices for 14 Plus devices and have increased the Pro Max prices even more.
I think they’ve really lost the plot. If the other networks have not done the same, it will cost them customers.

Granted it includes an extra and it’s max speed, but seriously? £26 for 5GB? When I took out my contract, I got 200GB for £25 with one extra and no speed limit!

I have always found buying phones outright is a lot cheaper (which is what I have been doing for many years), especially if you keep them for 2yrs+, I just saw how much you have to pay for a phone contract in EE, and calculated the full cost of the phone and line rent, my brain just blanked, paying over £400 more, I am looking at this plan, I pay £18 for same features, unlimited everything.

And yes, before you jump on me, I understand many can't afford to buy phones outright, but even Apple's finance plan is a lot better and cheaper, this is assuming you keep the phone for 2yrs minimum, then go for a SIM-Only contract, you get more out of it.
