I don't own my own home so I am not covered...

You don't have to own your home to have home contents insurance (you don't have to have home contents insurance even if you do own your home), it's a completely separate insurance package from buildings insurance which is required for mortgages.

I believe so but it should really say UKCA instead for UK models to be compliant after Brexit. Apple is sending us European CE compliant models.

Note. Even Samsung had started using UKCA from last year on their watches and phones.

CE mark is still legal and can be used until 31st of December 2024.

UKCA marking is only voluntary until then.

@Sal09 CPI + 4% is a lovely thing isn't it. I mean every provider does it but I had a bit of a heated discussion with their support as they increase the whole bill - which includes the phone, and THAT, I believe, is something other providers not do. So I just spent £1k to buy myself out of the contract. Putting it on a credit card costs me 7.5% compared to the 14% they would charge if I were to stay with them. So was an easy math. I am now on PAYG ..
Mine jumped from £53.90 to £61.66 and £58.10 to £66.46. These figure include 30% F&F discount. If I didn’t have the discount i would have done the same.

I deliberately timed mine so that it wouldn’t go up in the price hike.

I’m paying £54 a month for a 14 Pro Max 256gb with 100gb of data from O2.
Plus £8 a month for a 20gb SIM only deal for my wife in her 13 mini

That's an amazing deal.

How did you get the 14 Pro Max for that price? Are you a long term O2 customer or something or did you get some type of discount?

Yeah it’s a 3 year deal, though I don’t usually let it roll that long. After around 18 months I tend to pay off what’s left of the device plan.

I also have 20% off the airtime section of the plan now I’m working for the NHS, which made it the same £20 a month I was paying for that plan as a SIM only

How can you wait that long? 18 months?
I start getting impatient after 9-10 months for an upgrade.

I was quite happy with my launch day 12 Pro to be honest. I paid it off early because I could quite happily manage it and wanted to cut my monthly outgoings.

I’d have carried on using it now, but I was charging 3 times a day and some mornings I’d wake up to find it hadn’t charged overnight.
Even though that could probably be fixed by a battery replacement, the modem issues were my biggest annoyance. After 5G was turned on locally, I’d find that moving away to a 4G network would cut my data connection rather often and need a toggle of airplane mode or a reboot to fix sometimes.
That plus I sold my iPad then missed the larger screen and wondered if the larger phone would fill that hole.

cheeky beggars! you made the right call moving the 'finance' to the card in this case.

I'm seriously evaluating the costs with EE for me. I've got 2 lines and use the BT sport big screen through them... but I'm sure if I do the math, then I should be able to find a cheaper deal for my 2 lines and probably pay for BTsport separately and still be better off.
I thought this was a UK thread o_O ;)

p.s. - if anyone carries their phone around 'naked' then they are a psychopath and should have cover :D
I take issue with being called a psychopath. My naked phone is beautiful 😂. The only scuffs on it are on the edges which are annoying af I have to admit. My screen protector does most of the heavy lifting. I’ll admit I’ve changed it about 3 times so far because it’s cracked from slight drops or knocks.

there's really not that much competition around, looking this morning... from the big providers that is.

might have to look at Giffgaff as a cheap and cheerful option. I assume they don't support wifi calling or visual voicemail?

nothing currently on offer get near my £200GB for £26 inc BT sport add-on...
Voxi has Wi-Fi calling and visual voicemail

I can’t remember if it was on Macrumors or elsewhere but EE do offer device plans like o2, Tesco Mobile etc - however you have to call customer services AFAIK to get it.

Surprised they don’t offer it online yet as CPI & 3.9% is bad *but* at least it would only impact the airtime agreement instead of the cost in one fell swoop.

Off topic, but can you guys recommend a good/accurate weather app? Dark Sky was my go to App before Apple decided to get rid of it.
A lot of recommendations I read online are suited to those living in the US and Canada...

I will try it out. Are you going to upgrade to the ultra premium subscription?

Also, what weather source do you use?
